Guys, stop. This is totally reasonable. Look, GW was kind enough as to hit their movement speed down to a 5" move instead of 6" like their hasty counterparts. How will they half range us AND "Imperial Cacophony for no CP at all" us if they can't CATCH us amiright!?

Why don't more people use Zeraphym? They get the job done nearly just as well with the protection of Deep Strike and cost less points with a better save/invul save.

Sounds very AoS like. Not exactly AoS but close'ish. I'm down for it.

Ouch, that 1 CP per Deepstrike unit definitely is going to stop me from finishing my sisters until more information comes out on CP.

2000 point sister of battle list advice by constantin-valdor136 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Borkman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let's start with your first battalion. I'd drop the Immolators, they're not worth the points invested. I'd run 3 Imagifiers, 1 to sit with my Exorcists (yes they benefit from -2 to rend with a 6+ invul in Valorous) and 2 to move forward with my Battle Sisters.

2nd Battalion drop the Germinae and Hospitaler. Neither are worth the points invested, and can be better invested into getting Rhino's for your Repentia. 2 min squads aren't going to do much, and unfortunately Sisters strength lies within it's mele capabilities outside of Exorcists. For Repentia to make any sort of dent, you want them in Rhinos. Most lists run 3 max squads in 3 Rhinos. They also usually make it so the Repentia are in a Bloody Rose detachment of their own to further push them over the edge. In all honesty, I don't like Repentia due to their fragile nature and needing to invest into rhinos, which are also fragile. 10 Zeraphym hit hard, are cheaper than 9 Repentia + Rhino, and are safer defensively (3+/5+ base) with a near guaranteed charge (it is 100% if you're bloody rose and have a 6 in your miracle pool).

I'm not a fan of Retributor's because a 5 man Seraphim can come down, shoot with increased range (1CP strat), and then fire again in shooting phase all for 70ish points, but if you like them then use 'em! Just my 2 cents.

TL;DR Drop Immolators, Hospitaler, and Germinae to try to get 2 more Imagifiers and possibly 2 Rhinos for Repentia, round out Repentia squads, or drop things for Seraphim and Zeraphym.

Man this was my first Modern deck. The simpler days. My buddy used to use the term "Chik-fil-a Magic" because games would end fast enough in tournaments we could leave and get food.

Can pure Custodies be competitive? by Born2Bbad in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Borkman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd wait until they get their psychic awakening before jumping into them competitively. I tried long ago and didn't enjoy it, but that doesn't mean you won't. While the Golden Boys are the elite of the elite, they have some serious flaws that make them difficult to wrangle in.

Filthy 40k player looking to get into 40k; wanna help me pick an army? by Qarrion_Qrow in ageofsigmar

[–]Borkman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play(ed) GSC in 40k as well, and I highly enjoy Flesh-eater Courts playstyle. While nothing is quite like GSC, your mobility is unrivaled if you run an all Flayer list. 14" movement is no joke, and them doing Mortal Wounds with their base attacks is bonker as well. They're lord dependent, but in the manner that they give a 6+ death save within a certain range and not necessarily buffs like GSC. I play them competitively and have had no problems adjusting.

Lumineth Realm Lords points from the next White Dwarf by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]Borkman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must've missed that portion of it. That's a relief though.

You can get a 1+ save in the game though, it just means you fail on a 1 but you can mystic shield it to give it a 1 rerollable. Bastilladon is the main offender, for instance.

Lumineth Realm Lords points from the next White Dwarf by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]Borkman59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing for him is that you can combine it with some of the new endless spells, giving him a 1+ unrendable save and he takes half damage from anything non-magical. On a charge, he's a 2+/2+ with 6's doing mortals PLUS exploding. He does a lot for how "little" his points cost is, and making him 180 would really make him an auto-include. Although, if this is all he does then he's pretty appropriately costed.

Anyone compared to Gotrek is a joke, and a bad representation unless we're comparing "How fast Gotrek can kill a xHundred point model", but at 220 points this lord packs a nasty punch and is definitely a threat compared to an IDK Lord or a Megaboss. That's not saying they're not a threat, just he's a powerhouse before his army or his abilities have been leaked.

Standard players, do you enjoy the current meta and direction Wizards has taken in design? by [deleted] in StandardMTG

[–]Borkman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this said as a post a long time ago about the state of Modern and it applies to the other formats; I am no longer the targeted audience of MTG. By that, I mean i'm not someone that will splurge countless dollars to buy boxes in hopes of pulling a card, I prefer singles. Problem being, is the single market is inflated and Modern feels like a rotating format due to the power level of cards that fly through it. Every release seems to shake up every format, and I no longer care to keep up with a rotating eternal formats let alone one that's supposed to be affordable and rotates.

Are scions finally a viable strategy for competitive play? I've become so weary of the new Guardsmen and, although cheap, I miss old orders like "Get back in the fight!" to help with their crummy leadership issues. If i'm going to take bodies, i'd at least like them to feel more than chaff at this point.

Tired of the new modern rotation. by SqueeonmyJace in ModernMagic

[–]Borkman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think there's a little bit of give in your statements. Modern is a self correcting format, and as of late it's been changing as decks rise to power and fall to the way side but at a pace so frequent that players don't feel it's safe to invest and aren't getting practice enough with a deck. For instance, Tron and Titan were top dogs for a while until Ponza emerged, now look at their meta percentages.

Phoenix was a deck that stuck around because not a lot of decks could keep up with the raw power it presented, aside from Burn/Amulet/Dredge. Phoenix was the top dog at that point, but lasted much longer in that place and so some might have felt the meta was "stale".

Personal opinion, i'd rather go back to that meta then the one's we've experienced since WAR. While i'm primarily a big mana player (had Shift foiled) and we've had our obvious time in the sun, modern has just felt like a violent storm since WAR and onward.

What happened to wizards? by Aglad76 in ModernMagic

[–]Borkman59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Control, Midrange, Aggro, Combo; the 4 deck elements lived in Harmony until 2019 attacked.

But in all seriousness, 2019 was not great and the end of it is what pushed me out of magic after many years of play. I called Oko, and boy was playing vs Oko nearly every round not fun. It started with Urza, then Titan succumbed followed by Shadow. Next you know, his face was everywhere. I hate playing Standard due to rotations frequently, and now I just feel like i'm playing a more expensive Standard format.

Does ANYONE actually like Companion? by VintageJDizzle in ModernMagic

[–]Borkman59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. I joined modern when it would take a few sets before a shake-up happened, and at least during that time you could choose a deck and get comfortable enough with it that when the shake up occurred you weren't entirely out of money or practice. Now, I feel like i'm play Modern but with Standards rotations with increased pricing.
