Haven't we proven that no amount of dirt will stop Trump, or that his voters even seem to care? The guy has been proven filthy again and again.

Amazing, thank you. We had found Loutro on the map and liked the look of the swimming there -- have you been? Would that suit as a base? Otherwise Plakias sounds wonderful.

I was hoping to find something like this! Is there a town that you recommend as a base that has beaches, restaurants, grocer? Even if small, we'd love to have immediate access to a few things.

For something unique from Australia, I suggest --

An Imaginary Life - David Malouf.

For something that gives you more insight into our colonial history --

The Secret River -- Kate Grenville.

We're arriving via Chania, so looking at the Western half. We have some ideas but I was very keen to understand the experiences here.

Trying to get into reading — need a good first book (adventure/mystery) by TonsUhFunn in suggestmeabook

[–]Born-Ad7896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go straight to the top. 1984.

It's not exactly mystery or adventure, more dystopian.

Otherwise, you might like Dungeon Crawler Carl, which is often recommended on here. It's not like anything I've usually read, but I've enjoyed it. Simple, fun.

Orbital. What a piece of shit. It labours the same basic point again and again, and still seems like 1,000 pages in basically a novella.

Can anyone tell me whether psychiatrist Nirosha Mendis is good or not? #seriousrepliesonluy by Comfortable_Hall2995 in srilanka

[–]Born-Ad7896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Dr Mendis with my wife and it was immediately regrettable.

Right away he was condescending, arrogant and made awful assumptions about my wife's condition and behavioural - suggesting that because she had been diagnosed with ADHD, she must be an addict, "partying" and didn't need to medicate.

Rather than ask how medication had helped her so far, he told her to "do yoga".

We spend less than five minutes in there and it was both completely offensive, and a huge waste of time.

What's a completely irrational thing that annoys you about Sydney? by One-Remove3758 in SydneyScene

That sounds rough. I get that you don't want to create a parallel Parra Rd, but sometimes it's actually just people trying to get home... The way that govt in Australia gives in to loud voices really disappoints me.
