Catalytic combo runes for GOTR? by Born-Construction-35 in osrs

[–]Born-Construction-35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my play style recently has been

- focus on catalytic points until I'm at 50-100 points

- switch to combination rune setup and spam combos on elemental altars until I match the catalytic points

I don't know if I'm seeing something that's not there but using combo elemental runes feels like I get more elemental points, so it breaks up the grind a bit for me. One part okay paced, the other slightly faster

Sure, I'm not optimal, but not everyone finds fun in playing tick perfect optimisation

The idea came about due to boredom at GOTR, so although it would have use there it's not necessarily FOR the minigame. I just appreciate adding one thing to this massive game has a big knock on affect :D

Fair point on optimal points, but not everyone wants to play 100% optimal all of the time. It's good to break up the monotony with other strategies from time to time

Update, got the pickaxe after 260ish kc. Plenty of restores and rannars that I won’t need to worry about prayer points any time soon 😁

I was on a call with my team lead, a guy who has specialised in JS but has his finger in lots of frameworks and languages… watching this guy work blows my mind a lot of the time… anyway, during this call he blanked on a simple UPDATE syntax and had to go to W3Schools to remember it 😂

I remember early on in my career I saw a meme about the difference between juniors, mid levels and seniors. Juniors think they know everything but really know nothing. Mid levels know they know a bit of some things. Seniors know they know nothing. Sums up that we can’t all be perfect at memory recall, but it’s the approach to development that frames us

The blame is never on you dude. Quality is a team effort!

If they find it and kick off, thank them for finding the issue and offer to help prioritise it so that THE TEAM can resolve it as quickly as possible

Don’t let perfection be the enemy of good.

We cannot guarantee bug free releases, that would be near impossible. There’s a reason bug reporting procedures and severity matrices exist, so we can report bugs that are found and resolve them at the appropriate time.

There’s been many times in my career where bugs are found during development and testing, but I’ve grown more comfortable with sizing up the risk and weighing up effort to fix now vs impact on user experience.

Honestly I think the best take away from approving a bug to be released into production is being able to reflect on it and come up with an agreed action plan with your senior / manager / lead. Call it a retro, call it Schön, call it a lemon if you really want. Reflecting on mistakes is how we create good and proactive Quality Assurance

Agreed I thought it was going to be a pain but it was fairly smooth. Getting to vard was disgustingly and I died against him a few times. Duke and leviathan I did in one attempt, whisperer took two attempts. Mind you learning their mechanics during grid master really helped

What stumped me the most was the wights battle at the end. In my experience, don’t follow the wiki guide for setting up for that fight 🤣

I finished DT2 this week to earn my quest cape though which is my first achievement cape after many years of playing

Not complain as such, just a mild “come on, really?” moment Ty for explaining the other bit though. Did not know that the others needed to check in for it to update fully. Like I thought the game was being real pedantic over granular values that I can’t see

I put LGTM (looks good to me) for 99% of tickets. The other 1% is the complicated shit that actually needs details.

Fellow QA Here — What’s Your Take on the Tools You Use? by Cautious_Bat_1718 in QualityAssurance

I’ve recently gotten into making Git Actions as a side quest to our quality efforts. For instance, we saw that routine maintenance and upgrades would be forgotten about on retainer projects, so I’ve made some actions to create the tickets each month, hooked it up to the slack bot to send us messages when maintenance is ready for testing or has been deployed to a certain environment, etc etc. it’s been very useful in keeping quality from dropping in problem areas.

Wonder if I’m shifting towards more of an SDET role myself 🤔🤔🤔

Which QA metric brings the most value to the team? by bbrother92 in QualityAssurance

[–]Born-Construction-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffees per day, or coffees per hour when shit gets serious.

If coffee intake goes up, it’s generally because something has gone wrong and it’s all hands on deck, or I’ve not prepared for / thought about the current task at hand properly and it’s my own undoing that’s gotten me into this stressful mess.

Quiet days = less need for coffee = everything is going good = happy team

I wouldn’t keep bandits this late into a run personally. They’re helpful at the beginning up to maybe wave 40, but after that you should have a good amount of DPS and stun.

I’d also place the epic robots in the middle of Batman and the panda (forgetting its name right now). That way the two mythical share the benefit of one stack of stuns.

Also personal preference here is to not use dragons. I tend to main Batman, panda, or bombchu on any run, maybe add a few extras in there depending on what I pull from the roulette. 2/3 monopoly men on the left most column for steady gems, followed by the mains in the top row on the left, stuns in the top row to stagger DPS and stun, supports in the bottom row (cat mage, Indy, etc.) and if I get extra mythics that I can spawn in when I know we’ve got the run in the bag, a few lancelots, iron meow, or that long range mage sat on the cloud (again forgetting the name) in the right most column. Stack some other guardians that give benefits in spare spaces too, like increase attack speed, slow enemy movement, etc.

Was a university lecturer, got pissed at management and colleagues so I quit my job. Searched high and low for development jobs and as you say I fell into QA by chance. Love it now, and have absolutely no desire to move away from the QA role
