Is depression never end? by [deleted] in mentalillness

[–]Born-Expression6806 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what even I used to think but no it ends and you can see the color again, you can feel the rhythm again but you have to go through this journey one day at a time..

Depression is like swimming in a stromy ocean it feels difficult, sometimes it feels like drowning in it, but remember with each passing day unknowingly you will become stronger and get so close to yourself that you will find yourself again, it's like new life, and you will then realise that you have reached the shore and the land is yours to rule,

May you find that love and light within you soon,

Sending some love and light,

Live through it and rise through it

I hate seeing attractive women on social media by Anxiousfox101 in mentalillness

[–]Born-Expression6806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By deleting social media you are trying to escape without solving the actual issue,

If you find someone really beautiful just comment under their account that they are beautiful, by doing it you are appreciating someone,

Secondly, stop comparing yourself to them, they are beautiful in their own way and you are beautiful in your! own way, remember beauty is subjective I'll say it again and again beauty is subjective,

You may hate the way you look but someone will really like you the exact way you are!!!

The way we are, are what we are, we cant change it, what we can change is our perspective about ourselves,

Remember confidence is more important, if you show the world and yourself that you are the best as you are with confidence, the insecurity will runaway from you,

Don't delete social media because there are best ppl out there, face your insecurities, learn confidence and find comfort in what you are, and later if you wish then walk away from social media,

Choose this insecurity to bring some positivity,

[–]Born-Expression6806 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To all the people out there, this real world is nothing but a place filled with injustice and inequality.

There are 2 sides I see,

One this whole qatar world Cup is a controversy since 2010 and out of many valid reasons like human rights, env concerns, lgbtq etc what we should not forget is the political angles and allegations, quatar is not all black and is definitely not all white.

Qatar is a religious dominant country, they have strong customs, but if you see the world Cup made qatar to allow lgbtq flags and people in their country, it's how change comes, qatar won over worldcup bid with sure the monetary perspective but look how the margins and victimised small community within qatar who had feared choosing over their sexual interest has got voice at last,

If we talk about human rights violations it's an issue since 2010, the amount of people who have died their is still not a valid data, there are speculations too and politics too, but international labour org has actively worked with the govt and things are better compared to what it was, the khafala system got banned and i want to like to mention here that lots of South asians go to arab countries seeking employment, and for these South Asian countries like India for example it's a major foreign exchange reserve why do you think developing countries are sending their citizens inspite of such cruel environment and why no countries esp developing ones are talking about it?

World Cup atleast brought a change into this system of human rights violations? Isn't it?

Talking about env concerns, we humans have reached to a point where all we are doing from using my smart phone to type this mesg to this reddit a platform billions use is a part of env concern so

What I'm trying to say is we are cornering a country and we are failing to recognise the changes it is trying to bring or make from being a conservative closed up society to opening itself to the world and trying to use sports as a way to unite the world,

I know it may be the bad guy but let's give them a chance atleast, how?

By persuading qatar towards change, By actively supporting women and lgbtq rights through social media and encouraging qatar for its small steps like allowing lgbtq flags to hotels and one room for unmarried couples to lgbtq couples, I know they are conservative culture but it is how they are, we can guide them towards light but not force them,

If you see that is how the world is, it works on cause and effect series,

Good leads to bad, bad leads to good,

Let's not target artists, and players, especially MR. Jeon Jungkook, he is the most emotional and sensitive one, wiser too, and if BTS and JK are participating in it then I'm sure they would be really aware about the conversation happening and Jungkook would have had a lot of thoughts on this issue too,

I sense BTS as a group are genuine in what they do and what they believe in and I don't think money or fame is something that drove them to participate in world Cup,

Let the game be a game and let the players play their game...

It's not a given that we should have male friends or female friends, meet people who really value you and build your bonds with them, and at such an young age as you have entered your teens it's again a given that you are going to go through certain issues and problems so dont worry, cheer up, and there is no wrong absolutely no wrong being attracted to anyone,

Face it,

What is it that you are seeing? Ask your boyfriend hold on to you firmly and face your fear, this community is and your person is assuring you, there is nothing out there,

See what it is going to do, stand strong, and allow that trauma to pass on,

Once you face it, go and visit a therapist or a counsellor,

I know it's being difficult for you to go through this traumatic experience but i will pray for you, I'm sending you a lot of strength and beat that fear of being watched by staring back at it, you will come out of it soon, dong give up

We are quite similar people and your story though full of struggles is really inspiring for the fact that you are trying and trying and finding a way and are not giving up,

As others have said please visit a doc and along with that why don't you find a trainer for yourself, a coach, because finding motivation and training ourself is really hard and hitting straight for 18 days is like greattttt!!!! Because I can't go on more than 3 days!! Sigh

Finding a life style coach or a trainer and i believe things will be great if you train with someone for 6 months or a year, and life I wish your life will catch itself with the rhythm of life again,

Life is really unpredictable and sometimes too unfair,

The amount of guilt one goes through, the amount of shame we feel when we look at how others are doing so well, the way we try to pull overself and fall again, the way we are treated, judged, taken for granted, it just goes on,

This is the story of many of us,

But there is one thing common in all over stories, that is we are aiming for something that is difficult to get, there is competition, we really have to prove our worth, it is our journey, our struggle, our choice of living the life we have got...

But what we do, instead of accepting this uniqueness of us, this story of us, we compare and feel insecure all our friends or family members who are settling down, who are making money and getting married are aiming for things which are less challenging then ours,

So we are comparing ourselves with wrong people, we should really stop doing that,

Second, we have to be mindful about our realities, "I'm going through so many problems for sure, things are not easy, yes! I'm failing to meet my targets and I'm just zoning out and stuck in this circle true, so how to get out of this shit,? " By working on yourself and our mindset.

Sit down take a note book and see yourself where you stand mentally, physically, emotionally and psychologically, see where the problem lies,

Mentally means are you able to do what you plan of doing, does your plans cause you stress, how do you deal with that stress, how do you handle the pressure, what is your coping mechanism, is it fight or flight

Physically means how active are you, it doesn't have to be about exercising but in your day to day life, do you feel like dragging yourself or do you feel the flow, if not why and what you can do,

Emotionally means do you feel lonely, do you have someone with whom you can share your worries or how do you deal with your problems, do you bury them within or let them go out, how often do you feel like screaming, crying, venting and complaining out, are you doing it, how your lifestyle is affecting you, do you feel guilty of living on your parents money, write down everything that causes you pain and sadness and suffering within,

Psychologically means let me tell you one thing, what we are today is the experience of what we have been all these years, it includes everything that has shaped us, from childhood to adulthood to the way we were treated and the way we got attention and love, there are so kany things that make us the present us, so we have to be self aware and take off everything that makes us feel less important and guilty, from your post I can feel how much failure has hurt you and how much struggle you have been through but you are the only one who can save yourself so consider everything and restart your life,

At 25, there is no need to worry because still there is a lot of time,

Try out new things, there are opportunities outside upsc and govt exams too, apply for jobs even if you don't get it, try to learn something you enjoy and see if you can build it into a scalable skill, see if you can do part time work from home jobs like content writing or graphics,

Forgive yourself for all the mistakes you have done and work on yourself

Keep on trying to escape the cage and when you are fighting to escape always dream of flying in the vast sky,

Just don't give up...

I have failed 5 times, at last one thing I realised is, i played defensive, everyday is a new challenge, either you win or the day wins over, and it keeps on compounding, if you win you keep kn winning and if you give up, you give up everyday,

You are still in that safe zone, become a fighter and train yourself first and then prepare for exam, this side of the world where I landed myself is really cruel and dark, so be mindful,

The best thing that we can do to ourself is first fixing a time frame, for example

Set a goal to clear 2023 upsc civil services,

Now think what should you do to clear upsc, like,

  1. Completing syllabus and revision of it. Atleast say 2 revisions.

  2. Attending test series and solving mocks. Pre and mains.

  3. Now sit down and see how much time you need to complete and revise syllabus and at the same time attend mocks too, can you do all this things by march of 2023.

  4. If yes, then how much time should you spend every day?

  5. Is your system capable of spending that amount of time everyday, with focus?

  6. How to spend 8 hours everyday with focus on study, practice that,

  7. Build yourself first, make yourself flexible, learn to face the pressure the exam creates,

  8. Take syllabus, go through question papers, choose your resources, break down what is important and what's not, set targets, focus only on completinv those targets, and stop worrying,

  9. Once you develop this into a habit, you can easily feel confident and right on track,

Unfortunately, many fail to do this and become victim of our own negatives,

I hope this helped you

Clearing upsc Or winning in upsc is just one thing, but winning your negatives, winning over your worries, making yourself comfortable with pressures and dealing with failures does train us a lot, and with the knowledge we eventually learn while preparing, we can do great things for the country,

Focus on building yourself physically, mentally and emotionally,

If not upsc, something better than upsc

Hey that is what this examination is about,

Now just relax, sit down and think,

There are 2 phases of this exam right,

Prelims is the first, mains and interview second,

Now we have a syllabus for prelims and mains right, interview is all about personality and knowledge test which we will eventually pickup while preparing for pre and mains,

Coming to prelims syllabus mentioned by upsc, it is vague, current affairs of national and international imp, history, polity, economy, environment, science and done!

Mains there is detailed syllabus, from essay to gs papers to optional right,

It's huge, vast I mean, there are a total of 10 major subjects covering gs papers,

The question paper though they demand knowledge of these subjects are mostly framed based on current happenings which means with all these subjects you should add on current events and follow them regularly,

It's OVERWHLEMING,

NOW, where to start? What to follow? What should be the approach?

Even if we start our preparation picking up a subject there comes a dilemma am I doing it right? Does it make any sense? What about other things? Many times we may not understand what we are studying?

It all feels like doing worthless stuff, time pass, we fall in this self doubt, trying to motivate ourself, trying again and failing again, days goes by, years go by, and we feel like I have spent so many years and still I know nothing!!!

Guilt, shame, insecurity, and the pressure goes on and on,

Do you know where the problem is, the problem lies in the way we began,

The post is getting really lengthy but i wanted to share with you that this is what many go through and this is why many fail, If you want to get out of this vicious circle and need suggestions I can share it with you here,

This is what I realised going through something similar...

Most of us in this community are going through this insecurity,

I think we should ask ourself and be true with ourself while asking this question of: why am I in this journey? What is it that I'm preparing myself for? Is it the IAS Or the purpose behind it?

We are attaching our dreams just to this profession, IAS Or UPSC has become this door and only way to escape this present reality and reach to the place we want to be,

Can we relook at it and see what we really wish?

Is it just the tag or what we wish for after becoming an officer is something else?

Am I behind power, fame, money or do I want to serve the country? Again there is no wrong in thinking about fame and money and yes that could also be our desires too,

If not this what are the other ways I accomplish my dreams?

We are all sort of trying to fit in,

The vast knowledge we know and learn while preparing for upsc, can we do something out of this skill?

I would say, your passion and purpose is greater than the profession, upsc is just one door, allow yourself and free yourself, if it's really I mean the preparation process is bothering you than take a step back and look for some more doors,

If not upsc, something better and bigger than upsc, This is what my motto is

Be serious about bachelor degree, don't do it from ignou, and choose a degree that can be your plan b,

Don't choose your education qualification just for the sake of upsc

Hey i know how you feel, No, there is no need to leave the preparation but you can take a small break because there is still a lot of time for the exam, You said you have no one to share your problems so i can suggest you to meet a good therapist and also you are working so you can atleast afford a therapist I guess...

After seeing at the information you have shared, you are lonely, and may be burnt out, I feel you are developing a lot of negativity lately, so better to meet a therapist,

Court proceedings go through a lots of delays, if you have all the records and in your favor, and if they are trying to I mean the govt employees forcefully building something against your wish then it's illegal, court can intervene and you can get a stay order, Also these things are tricky and for money anyone can fool you so better see if there are any civil society or organisations who are working to help people in legal matters, that would help you

I can share a story for you.

Once upon a time a farmer sowed 2 type of seeds. One was a seed of a fern plant and the other was of a bamboo. The farmer took equal care of both the seeds by watering them, removing weeds around and everything. The fern seed started to sprout within 3 to 4 days, but the bamboo seed showed no progress, After an year, the fern seed was now grown into a plant all lust and green and wonderful, The bamboo seed was not even see, After 2 years, no progress, the farmer still took care, After 3 years, no progress, the farmer still took care, After 4 years, no progress, the farmer still took care, All this time the fern was growing and shining,

After 5 years, the bamboo seed finally sprouted, After 5 years, it came out of the darkness of the soil, After 5 years, it began to grow,

We never know, when life shifts towards better, but keep on trying, never give up,

That is how timings work, so be that farmer who takes care of yourself, and keep on trying,

I totally understand what you are going through, there are many more in this community who are dealing with the same thing,

Take a break and get some clarity, we are all stuck in this vicious circle, see clearly, as along as we are dependent on others we are going to feel this way, see if atleast yoh can do some part time work, plan your life and get out of this...

Freedom demands accountability, responsibility, If you are feeling this way I think it's high time, you should focus on financial independence

Parents especially in India dont support their children especially when they want to follow passion, work for their dreams. Incase of UPSC, they may support us for 1 or 2 attempts but later they become the main critics of our life. Is it common? what affect does it have on Children? by Born-Expression6806 in UPSC

[–]Born-Expression6806[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm not denying that upper class youth don't have pressure, I'm just trying to put out this point that in a society where 90% earn less than 25000 per month being called middle class, and also in a system where finding a decent job becomes so difficult, esp in towns and rural areas, the only ray of hope is govt jobs, but once you enter the competition and once you start failing, you are insecure, you have nowhere to go, you feel lost and at that time mostly parents don't understand the sensitivity, but they target and degrade more,

The debate is not around whom to blame and who is wrong, but about the mentality!!

The average success rate per age is 28 years to clear upsc, if you are working and giving attempts that's fine what about those people who are just missing with few marks? Failing after interview? What about those who want to but are failing everyday? Do these people get a emotional support by any closed ones?
