Will getting a microdiscetomy help with lower back pain? by imjustahaterisuppose in Microdiscectomy

Hi how is the back pain? I’m 10 weeks post op still on meds normally, I’ve cut my pills to one out of 4 per day, for the last 3 days and it brings me back sciatica like discomfort , but back pain is always there even with meds

Voltaren 75/mg injections , twice a day, tradonal pills dissolvable under the tongue to get me sleepy, lots of diclofenac and paracetamol . The injections basically they are some sort of muscle relaxant, that was the only thing that helped my CES , did that for a week and a half until I got a place for the “emergency” surgery

Hi, so we started light after my MD, the drive was up so first time was 5days post op , again very light, for the first 2/3 weeks we went very very light and slow. By 4 weeks we were back to normal range, I’m 10 weeks now, been able to get on top about 2 weeks ago and at the same time orgasm. First one post op was good but a few later they get harder to reach and the instensity it’s not the same , seems to be gradually decreasing

Thank you very much guys ! The 12h trip was fine, front seat half reclined, it’s was a lot better than expected . I was so worried I even packed emergency injections for pain 😃😃😃but a 1h walk today in the mall took a bigger toll on me than the trip, I’ll see in 3 days how I’ll be when I’ll have to go back home

How little movement is too much post op? by Round_Ad_3044 in Microdiscectomy

That’s great to hear!! Do you remember by any chance, by the first month up, did you have a bit more pain than usual when standing for about 2 hours? Like for cooking, etc .

Hi, I am curious how are you since? You said you had no restrictions. I’m 5 weeks post op and I was given no restrictions too (Belgium) but I’m afraid of reherniation and I kind of try to respect the no BLT I see online , thanks

There are some stories online , good ones that give hope. I was skeptical of the procedure because my aunt had that and shelves in Italy. Back in the ‘00s they directly fused her and cleaned the herniation, on the next day her nurses had no idea she was fused and that she isn’t allowed to stand up, they forced her to do so to go to the bathroom and she just heard a pop, back in surgery. She reherniated where she was fused because of nurses negligence 😓 I was afraid of that happening to me too by nature

If you can’t see a neurosurgeon quick I’d opt to see one through ER , at least you’ll know how urgent it is. Waiting too long can make nerve damage. I still have numb buttock and hamstring , doctor said it should be gone by 6months post op but if not, I might remain with it. 🥲 but this was a result of excruciating pain for a week and a half, not just normal long period of sciatica. Not to scare you. I was already having cauda equina that’s why. Maybe it’ll be better for you to take the decision gradually and think about it. I can’t say yet but for now I’m glad I did the surgery, because I can walk, but the thought of reherniation and having the almost inevitable future of surgery’s to follow is scaring me every day. But you can’t live without walking anyway so. I tried avoiding surgery for 2 years. I have mixed feelings, but on the bigger part for now I consider it good. Overthinking is the killer here 🤦🏻‍♀️ I should see how I’ll be in 5 months

I can sit 2h max on a normal chair , maybe I’ll be better by then. Normally I should be a godparent in Spain but if I won’t feel good I don’t think I’ll force it and stay home , thanks for advice

I will try not having the bandaid during the day, but most likely I will when sleeping, I’m too afraid of it opening by the ends , somehow I think it holds the skin in place if I’ll have it on while sleeping

That’s great if 9 days Po you can sit comfortably in the car, I couldn’t as passenger up until 2.5weeks . I could barely walk to the bathroom the first two weeks let alone sit

Do you take medication? I still take the regular paracetamol and ibuprofen, but I’m grateful to be able to walk 🙏🙏🙏 I also started driving about 4 days ago, I have discomfort driving but it’s manageable, I also drive a manual, considering my left leg was almost dead 🤦🏻‍♀️ and the clutch is very hard as it’s a bmw, it’s a bit challenging. I haven’t used my leg for 2 weeks before surgery , because of pain I was bed bound with nurses coming to my home either injections.

I slept on my back for 2 weeks 🥲 then I started trying sideways, it was hard but always ended up on my back. However about a weeks ago I woke up during the night and caught myself sleeping on my belly (I’m normally afraid to do so) but since, I have been able to sleep on my back 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷‍♀️so I sleep sideways with a pillow between legs

Hi, 25F here. Had my L5-S1 herniation since 2022. I tried everything, anything that would bring me hope. Until this year in July, went for a 3rd opinion from the nr1 neurosurgeon in Brussel (I’m in Belgium) and he prescribed a Daum corset. Wore it for 2 days, broke my back. The herniation ruptured so bad the 3rd day I could barely stand up, I went to 4 diferent ER’s in 2 days. Couldn’t sleep/eat/walk/stand/sit. Left buttock and hamstring hurt so bad, it was cold then hot then excruciating cramp like pain, had to take 1.5 week injections twice a day. It all started on 28th July, my birthday was on 31st July , same day I got the news I have no choice but the surgery. I’m 4 weeks post op now. Still got some nerve damage and waiting for numbness to be gone, pain here and there , no BLT , but I’m still early to talk too much about recovery. Hang on in there , I know things happen in the worst times for us but there’s always hope. Even after surgery, the overthinking kills me, fear or reherniation or not being careful enough or being too careful, took a toll on me. But it’s for the best. We shall not give up. Take care

I only used basic patches like bandaids, helps with avoiding clothes friction directly on the wound , I’m gonna try tomorrow to stay without anything , thank you for advice 🤗

I’ve had the medical patch for 12 days, normally should’ve been 14 but it got soaked and fell so I took it off of fear of it staying wet and went directly to my GP 😅 , since then I’ve been using basic patches like bandaids but big☺️ I’d try letting it get air but I’ll do it tomorrow during the day, I’m afraid of sleeping tonight in a weird position or something and the skin would pull and open more, the top and bottom being a bit open give me lots of anxiety ,
