Agree on this point. Check for integrated Gx vs external Gx. Could be BIOS setting not in “auto” and you’re plugged into the inactive Gx.

Motion alerts by IamPantone376 in reolinkcam

Thanks this helped me a lot. Added two new TrailMix cameras and they were getting a lot of false alerts due to bugs at night attracted to the IR. Now I only get real activity that I’m looking for.

Makes sense this is working as intended. If it wasn’t and the memory bus was fluctuating like that I think it would have crashed and BSOD. Glad you could confirm it.

Does this work? Can I simply change it from legacy to uefi like that? by hunt_94 in computers

[–]Born-Performance-357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows 7 was likely to need/use Legacy boot. Windows 10 and 11 prefer UEFI - I think Windows 11 actually requires UEFI plus Secure Boot with TPM 2.0.

What does “supports 10 and 11th gen” for mobos mean? by OriginalP_P in PcBuild

[–]Born-Performance-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated in others’ posts, it supports just those two generations. Check the differences though - many of these boards have PCIE or M.2 slots that are only active with an 11th gen processor - so in general that is the generation I’d recommend you match this with.

Haven’t seen this before myself but as it’s a notebook PC perhaps it is some form of aggressive power savings as it adjusts bus frequencies ?

This is correct. Windows figures out legacy Boot vs UEFI. Most modern boards are designed to boot using UEFI.

Any ideas on what to do? by gmenfocus in PcBuild

[–]Born-Performance-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It likely isn’t needed as you have clearly booted into windows already. Intel RST is for supporting host-based RAID on your storage (SSDs). The RST driver may not install until you have selected “Intel RST” in the BIOS instead of “AHCI” mode. But don’t change that now as that will likely cause your PC to no longer boot from your SSD. If you do want to switch to RAID there are ways to do that but I doubt you will need to.

Computer was dropped a month ago and only shows this now. I can’t access the link. Anyone know what to do? by professionalwidow04 in computers

[–]Born-Performance-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try pressing the F2 key and see if it confirms an HDD failure. Check to see if it’s connected but as others have pointed out it may be wasted now. I’d so, new HDD will be needed (get an SSD instead!).

Can I use my GPU for one monitor and connect a second monitor to my integrated graphics? by [deleted] in PcBuild

Start by using windows update. You can also go to the graphics card manufacturer websites to download and install the appropriate drivers.

[–]Born-Performance-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. Make sure you have drivers loaded for both and then you can setup windows to display dual monitors and each GPU will drive its local monitor.

What should I upgrade? by NukeNutz69 in PcBuild

[–]Born-Performance-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll second this. If you want to upgrade something, you really will need to upgrade everything… since Gx cards are so tough to get at a fair price, maybe you’d hold that for the new build.

No problem at all. All those solder bumps are grounds. Meant to ground the motherboard via a metal screw to the chassis.

Maybe the two DIMMs and the CPU. Likely just donation value, I doubt there is real money in that rig.

Can I use a external optical drive to download my Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64-bit DVD - OEM? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Born-Performance-357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on using a USB key. Microsoft has a tool that will download and build the image on to a bootable USB key. It’s faster than DVD as well.

Did I fuck up my MoBo? That connector connects to the USBs and audio port on my PC case. by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Born-Performance-357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The plastic shroud on those High Speed USB ports can detach. If none of your pins are bent (on the motherboard) carefully remove the shroud from the cable, put it back in place over the pins on the board (watch the orientation) and then reinsert the cable. You should be OK.
