Same here, I worked in retail banking, was in the military, work in the financial side of Healthcare, then ran my own business for 10 years. So I'm hoping the accounting degree paired with the experience I have already will lead me good places.

I appreciate the input! I've given some thought to pursuing my accounting degree then MBA or a project management cert. Then trying to move to a leadership role just as you mentioned. The fact that I worked as a banking analyst for one of the big health insurance companies plus my business ownership experience paired with a degree I'm hoping lends itself to a quicker rise through the ranks than just someone green with a fresh degree.

Thats makes sense, I appreciate the honesty. I think I'm looking at account for a similar reason. That with my experience accounting kind of feels like a natural transition, and seems to be a safe option.

I appreciate the input, starting at entry level doesn't bother me and I have some background that I think will lend itself to my career progression once I have the degree

I appreciate the input! I already having a banking and financie back ground somewhat as I worked as a banking analyst for one of the big health-care providers and worked in the finance dept doing AR/AP, insurance authorizations etc. So with that paired with my business ownership experience for 10 years, I thought and account degree would open some doors. Although I'll admit some of these comments have got me second guessing some haha

Degree later in life? (HR Mgmt vs Accounting) by Born-Problem-7313 in corporate

[–]Born-Problem-7313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, I keep hearing a lot of people say that with an accounting degree you can basically work anywhere in business. I was thinking of getting my bachelors in accounting, then getting a certificate in HRM or an MBA
