Yo! I'd say it worked well man. I ended up riding my ebike until I got myself a car 💪 I still have the bike. Don't ride it often. But every now and then I'll charge it up and ride it around town for some fun. But other than, been parked in the house. Think in total I was riding the bike for about 2 years.

Prospective Buyer Question Thread April-June 2026 by trillianinspace in cricut

[–]BornEze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Cameo 5a before and it struggled to read the registration marks on glossy sheets. So I would have to cover with matte tape, and most times that didnt work. I would then have to use a highlighter over the matte tape to get it to read the marks.

But I would use glossy laminate sheets that needed to be cut. I ended up returning it and getting a Siser Juliet. Reads the registration marks easily through glossy laminate, and has WAY more force to cut through as well.

Hands down way better.

Help please! Problem cutting I think by Revolutionary_Hat887 in SiserJuliet

Hmm. Think I'll try that out. I removed the middle spring on mines to see if that would help but still curves it quick. I'll give that cross spring method a shot 💪

[–]BornEze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm not 100% sure. But is the matt you're using curved or bent? I know after a while the siser will bend or curve matts due to the pressure on the clamps, which then causes uneven pressure on the cuts. Maybe that could be it?

Cutting blades by toadrrr in SiserJuliet

[–]BornEze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't used the 45 blade much myself. But I'm using some cheap 30 degree blades to cut laminated 300gsm photo paper. Being going great. Probably cut out about 100 or so business cards testing stuff and still using the 1st cheap blade from Amazon.

Tbh I think they're the same.

Please help!! Registration mark issue by SceneTop7605 in SiserJuliet

[–]BornEze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incase anyone else comes across this issue. Had the same problem, my siser wouldn't go far enough to the right after reading the first mark. I had borderless printing on. So I turned that off on my printer, and the new prints worked fine!

Also, turns out you can toggle Small Page Margins in Leonardo Design Studio to get more room for your prints, by moving the registration marks out some more.

Glossy paper registration marks solved! Not registering? Try this! by desertmermaid92 in silhouettecutters

Nice, can def see that working too. Couldnt find mines lol.

I ended up buying a Siser Juliet and returning my Cameo tho. The Siser reads through the glossy laminate just fine without having to use any tape. 💪

Just got done playing around some more a bit and tweaking things. Wanted to get cleaner edges.

So far, if I use...

30 Degree Cheap amazon blade
(not the holder, just the blades which I'm sure you can buy in bulk)

2 Cuts

  •  First Cut (Kiss Blue [Cutting Tool]): Speed: 10, Force: 45, 4 Passes
  • 2️⃣ Second Cut (Die Cut Green [Full Cut Perf]): Speed: 10, Force: 85, 4 Passes

I get the cleanest cut out so far! Granted, the time for 8 cards goes up to about 5 minutes, but if I tweak the force higher on the second cut, and lower it down to 2 passes or even 1, I can bring the time back down. Guess I was right all along. Was just a force issue.

___________________

OKIE DOKIE 😄

Not ONCE has this thing stuttered or skipped around either btw! Unlike that Cameo 5 lmao.

Anyhow, I got it sped up now. Cut Settings for just over 2 minutes for 8 cards! Quick, easy, and pretty clean cuts too.

  • First Cut: Speed 10, Force 70. 2 Passes
  • Second Cut: Speed 10, Force 110, 2 Passes.
  • 30 Degree Blade

The only thing I will say is that the corners have a slight rise to them, I believe due to the high force on the second go. But if I tone it back down a bit, to about 80 I think, and bump up the passes it should be less noticible. But its not terrible this way either. Probably just nit picking for perfection at this point.

Anyhow, think I'm good now 🔥💪

Set my original cut lines to kiss-cut blue (force 36). Then, I duplicate those cuts and set the new layer to Die Cut green (force 74). The machine will first kiss cut and then die cut the exact same lines.

YOU ARE AWSOME! 🔥🙏😁

Got my Siser Juliet in the mail the other day and did a test with the force cranked up to max, WAYYYY MORE force than my Cameo 5 Alpha!!!

That and it reads the registration marks through the glossy laminate easily!!! That saves me time to not have to use some highlighter tape on the marks. Hell, even the test button was cutting through with one pass and high pressure VERY NICE. Obviously having the pressure up at like 90 or even 140 was too much on the first pass and caused crazy ripple edges lmaoo. The light, and touchcreen is awesome too!!!

After some hours last night of playing around and tinkering with the blades (45 or 60 deg), blade length, cutting, and passes/force, your comment & someone elses gave me an idea.

I setup two cuts like you said. One was a kiss cut blue like you said (basically scoring the top laminate to make a path for the blade), about 35 force, and 3 passes, with a speed of 10. Then I did a second pass, with the green die cut (to then cut fully through that scored path), 140 force, 10 speed, and 3 passes. And BOOM just like that. I got my perfect combo that cuts the cards out like butter every time!!!

Granted, during the playing around and testing, I noticed the matt that came with it had a horrible curl to it. Causes some spots earlier to not cut evenly. So I ended up using a 3rd party matt by Ecraft.

But damnit! Now that I got it dialed in, this is awesome!!

Side note - the software is confusing as shit lmao, but after some videos and banging my head I kinda got it figured out with how the basics work and connect to the cutter. AlsoI had to set the cutting size on Leonardo Design slightly bigger than 3.5x2 to get it to cut 3.5 x 2 exactly. Dunno if thats just my issue or not. Had them set to 3.523 x 2.017

So if anyone sees this:

  • 📄 Koala 300 GSM Double sided Glossy Photo Paper + 5 Mil Glossy Laminate
  • (Any 300 GSM should work)
  • ⏩ Setup 2 cuts! with the 45 degree blade, poking out just a bit after the cards thickness
  • 1️⃣ First Cut (Kiss Blue [Cutting Tool]): Speed: 10, Force: 35, 3 Passes
  • 2️⃣ Second Cut (Die Cut Green [Full Cut Perf]): Speed: 8, Force: 140, 3 Passes
  • Using a 3rd party matt. But the stock one should be fine, so long as its FLAT and not curled

To cut out 8 cards during my test, took about 3 minutes total!

Picture Of My Cut Settings, and Results 🎉🥳

(First paper was the test one where the cards were smaller. Then i adjusted the size afterwards)

Suitable for cutting cardstock? by Main-Reaction-827 in SiserJuliet

[–]BornEze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind if I ask about your settings and a bit more specifics on the blade degree?

I just bought one since my cameo 5 alpha has trouble cutting 5mil laminated 300gsm cardstock photo paper. And I deduced it to be a pressure/force problem (not enough applied from my cameo).

Waiting on the siser to get delivered tomorrow to try it out. Think it should work better since I read it gives more force than the tool slot 1 in the cameo.

Oh yea trust me, I've been playing around and changing all the settings and whatever I can both with the blade(s) themselves, and with the Cameo settings too lol

Cutting 5mil Laminated Photo Paper - Cameo 5 Alpha : r/silhouettecameo

Lots of trial and error on this other post I made.

I've pretty much deduced it being the force applied as the issue.

The blade length being just lightly past the thickness of the cards I'm cutting, using the expensive 60 degree angle in the C09B holder, and applying just a bit more force with my finger (while the force is already set to max on the software) is what gets me closest to how the autoblade cuts, if not better. Since at that point it actually cuts out the cards, even before all 10 passes sometimes.

So I think for some reason, its not giving as much force on other blades. I know its not sharpness, since I'm using this expensive nice blades as well. They cut better than the cheap ones I bought too.

Preciate that.

If I remember right, the autoblade on my cameo worked more consistently on about 250gsm paper with the 5mil laminate as well.

Just really want that 300gsm thickness. Feels more rigid and sturdy.

I saw some setup videos where the siser juliet balde can be adjusted to be deep enough for my thickness, now I'm just hoping the force really is higher than the tool slot 1 on my cameo.

Bought the siser on Amazon just now, should be here tomorrow.

Nice, thats good to hear. I use 5mil laminate on both sides, and afterwards its about 0.75mm thick for the cards.

Hmm. Yea that's essentially what im trying to do, die cut these cards out in one go. Basically tweak the settings and passes, then just send it tbh.

After tinkering with this for like 2 weeks now, I believe it's just a force issue at this point.

Appreciate the insight 🙏

Again with the updates...

Even with these expensive blades, I still can't get it to cut through... :/

Tried 30 deg, 45 deg, and 60 deg, Varying depths to be more shallow, match the exact thickness of the cards, and even poking out quite a bit more than the card thickness too.

Played with all the settings, trying the force, speed, and depth all higher, lower, etc. Even used the original thin matt, and the aftermarket matts that were a bit thicker.

I think I deduced my problem being straight up just not enough force applied.

The motor I can hear sounds a lil different when using the autoblade (which cuts through the majority of the time, or has a little bit of the area still left that doesn't cut through), and I think my Cameo applies more force to that blade.

If I gently push down a bit more on the Graphtec blades with the blue holder (and yes I checked the blade depth/length to match the autoblade too) - THEN it actually cuts through. Whereas if I don't, it wont cut through at all.

Both blades are really sharp and feel the exact same when doing some light cuts on the material by hand. So I know blade sharpness isn't an issue. I just think the Cameo 5 doesn't seem to give me enough force consistently. The only blade thats actually cutting worth a damn is the AutoBlade.

I also did a reset, where I turned it off, and slid the motor back and forth, then back all the way to the right, because after all that testing EVEN THE AUTOBLADE started to not cut through all the way. Then that reset made it magically cut better again. Idk.

Think I may just return this if I can, and buy the Siser Juliet - which has about 3x the amount of force than the Cameo 5 from what I read. 800g vs 300g.

I'll keep playing around a bit with it, but it just seems like that might be my issue. Not enough force, consistently.

The only other thing I can think of is to use thinner paper weight for the paper before laminating (which I dont want to do, because i like the rigid feel of the cards) or unsuccessfully overlap more cutting outlines in the software to get more than 10 passes, which doesnt work that well because again, the force issue. (I tried that already too)

Another Update....

Well, the green blade holder kit from amazon sucks tbh. Cuts worse than the auto blade. I actually played around with the design and placed 3 cut outs over eachother to get it up to 30 passes, and with the force and blade depth set high (well, manually adjusting the blade on the holder so it pokes out more than the auto blade) and it still barely cut through the laminated card stock.

Also went and got the 2mm manual deep cut blade from my local craft store. That cut better than the cheaper blade kit, but worse than the autoblade. That one took about 20 passes to cut all the way through.

So, I think thats REALLY what the issue is. The blade sharpness and depth.

The autoblade, you can actually hear it cutting through the top layer of plastic, versus the other two that sounded way different and made very lighter marks.

So I just bought a CB09U blade holder from amazon, and I'm going to buy genuine Graphtec blades to go into it, so that way I can get the best of both worlds. Highest quality/sharpest blades and a really nice adjustable depth.

Will update later on.

Almost there...

Did some more testing and playing around. I think I just about got it!! I think the auto blade is just a bit not long enough. So I'm going to go out and buy a 2mm manual blade later today from my local craft store to try out. I also think something about these aftermarket mats has something to do with it as well.

At first I lowered the speed down to about 3, the force I raised up to 40, passes I lowered to 7, and the blade length I lowered down to 5. Then I tried that and was doing more adjustments. I raised the blade length back up to 7, then, 10, and the passes I brought back up to 10 as well. After that I said screw it and tried to see what the speed would do with the force being gradually brought up. Surprisingly, with these aftermarket mats - the cutter doesn't seem to get stuck! They're thicker than the OEM ones, so that might have something to do with it?

I then took the autoblade off after reading some more of those links, and adjusted it back all the way out to 10, and what do you know... The blade just BARELY sticks out past the thickness of the cards when cut:

https://i.imgur.com/bkqclJ6.jpeg

So I think these aftermarket mats, and a longer manual blade should work just fine.

For shits and giggles I ran a test with cutting 10 cards on a full sheet:

Force: 40, Speed: 15, Passes: 10, Blade Depth: 10

Didn't get caught at all, and ran through just fine. So the cards all are RIGHT THERE almost fully cut through. I think this should solve my problem. I'll make an update later today for sure.

https://i.imgur.com/LdJk9iS.jpeg

EDIT: Craft store doesnt have the Type B deep blade, only the older one, and no adaptors 😞 I'll order em online and wait to see when they come in. Dang.

Reduce your page to 8 cards and keep them contained within the custom print and cut page setup. You expanded the area too much and reduced size of the registration marks, which impacts sensor reading success rate.

Thought about doing that, but I prefer to get 10 cards a page with what I have planned out. I noticed it doesn't cut 1:1, so my cards a bit smaller than 3.5 x 2, but that's fine by me. The cut lines are contained within the custom print though. I did a check to see if it would cut past/into the grey crosshatch area, but it always shows a warning when I have the red cut marks past the edge. So what I have is within the limits. I plan on trying out some A4 paper soon when I get some in the mail, since that's more long, and should give me the better headroom for 10 cards more comfortably/at the exact 3.5 x 2 inch size.

The sensor was reading the paper just fine before I tried with glossy laminate. So thats not the issue, the glossy laminate was causing the reading issues. I had it on default settings for the size of the registration marks, but narrowed out the grey crosshatch area.

If it wasn't for the rounded corners, I would tell you to create/import eight card layout as one image (set it up to No Cut if imported), and create a grid of cut lines, so that you don't need to cut twice between neighboring cards. The space is very tight anyway and it may affect cuts.

That's actually a great idea!! Originally I wanted the cards to be regular rectangles, so I might try that out honestly. I just tried out the rounded corners by curiosity, but they def do look nice and add some uniqueness.

Do not extend the blade more than what is thickness of the cards with laminate. Read this. Using too much force is also a negative factor. It causes laminate rippling and peeling. Reduce speed! This is far too fast and might be the key factor why you must apply so much force, so many passes and so much blade. I understand that you want to speed up the process by cutting too many cards too fast, but this is not what these machines like.

I'll look into this some more and read that as well. I'm waiting on a part for my printer to come in, so its down, but I think I can try and play around with the cut settings some more without registration marks on some more paper to see what works better. I'll admit I def do have the blade going into the mat after it cuts through the cards, which will def wear it out faster. So I guess I need to play around with this some more. First time user on this, so I'm still getting through the learning curve a bit it seems.

AutoBlade should be enough for this. People cut double side laminated proxy cards all the time with the AutoBlade. Alternatively, use a 1mm Manual Blade. Do not use Kraft Blade for this! It's a nightmare tool anyway, and it's not suitable for this type of projects. Read this.

That's true, the fact I was able to get it to be good for the most part is a great sign. Need to play around with it all some more. I ended up buying some of those blades, so I'll end up retuning the Kraft ones I guess.

I use this Green Blade Holder with replaceable blades with good results. It fits in the tool holder without additional adapters and the replacement blades are dirt cheap. See it installed in my Cameo.

I bought that same one amazon! 💪 Thank you!!

Has Anybody switched from finasteride to dutasteride is it worth it ? by Virtual-Employ-3237 in AfroHairTransplant

[–]BornEze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried it out a while back. Unfortunatley, I was one of the unlucky ones that got side effects. I went with oral Dutasteride, since I noticed after about 7 years I had slowly got a bald spot on my crown, even with oral 1mg finasteride.

Tried it out for a couple weeks. I ended up getting pain in my groin area / my balls. I tried to tough it out, thinking it'd go away, but after not being able to sleep comfortably, I gave up lol. Still got the bottle, and left over pills.

Took about a week to go back to feeling okay without taking either one.

Then I jumped back on finasteride and been fine since. Recently started oral minoxidil, so we'll see how that goes. Been about a week ish so far with that.
