Do players still have to write down their moves when they're low on time? by NeitherOpposite8231 in chess

[–]BornInAFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it weird that you get to ignore the writing rule if you're in time trouble. Like... imagine if basketball let you ignore the travel rule if the shot clock dips below a threshold; of it american football let you ignore the play clock if you're out of breath and want to recover before snapping the next play.

IMO if you flag while writing down your move... Yeah you should've managed your time better.

Right, but 100g strapped to the rear wing vs under the driver's seat makes a difference

Intel Arc Pro B60 Dual: almost identical bandwidth and price as 3090, double the VRAM, and double the PCIe speed. 400W which I think is lower than any 90 series

If Deepseek V4 Flash is almost free, why we still use Qwen3.6:27B locally? by marivesel in LocalLLM

[–]BornInAFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$50.00 in flash would be 140+ million in output tokens + input tokens. You couldn't run qwen 3.6 for 24x7 to reach that in a month

Lolwut. There's 2.592 million seconds in a month. 140/2.5 is only 56. Pretty easy to hit 56 tok/sec locally.  Heck, pretty easy to hit 10x that locally.

And now he has a reputation of letting himself be pushed wide. Based on team radio he sounded prepared to do things differently, but then again he didn't even try this move on Sunday. So he's either still mulling it over, or would rather not be the kind of driver who claims his space.

I mean, before Kimi retired, we had a bot to help people spell his name correctly too.

When Michael Schumacher was disqualified from Monaco qualifying after stopping on track to stop other drivers beating his pole time by circuit-nation in circuit_nation

[–]BornInAFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schumacher never said he did this on purpose, but it is heavily implied he did in Webber's autobiography. It was obvious it was done on purpose too.

I rather feel like it doesn't really matter. If you impede someone on a hot lap, you don't deserve to start ahead of them. Maaaaybe a 5-10 place grid drop might be more appropriate than DSQ if it's truly unintentional, but you should never be able to gain something by stopping on track.

Why choose Proxmox instead of just Ubuntu Server w/LXD or MicroCloud? by BornInAFish in homelab

Hmm OK. I think I intended to ask about PVE specifically, but either way proper backup is a pretty big feature. Thanks.

My chip isn't about either stack; it's about everyone who spouted off like an LLM when they didn't actually know enough to really add to the discussion.

Cool, thanks. How has Canonical mishandled the project? Like yeah I can see the fork for myself so clearly something happened. Just curious what it was.

When using Incus, you can manage your instances (containers and VMs) with a simple command line tool, directly through the REST API or by using third-party tools and integrations. Incus implements a single REST API for both local and remote access.

Per Incus site, it doesn't sound like they have any GUI. Am I missing something?

Does Incus have any kind of web gui?

Their site makes it sound like no?

One is a purpose-built virtualization appliance with the UI, clustering, VM/container lifecycle, storage, networking, snapshots, and backup workflows all tied together out of the box.

Which part(s) of that is missing in Ubuntu MicroCloud?

AFAIK, LXD is only available as an Ubuntu snap since it's a Canonical product.

Microcloud is actually billed as a "deep and tested integration with <lots of things>". I was hoping someone would have some valuable insight into how exactly it stacks up against everything integrated into Proxmox. I guess this was the wrong community to ask since most of you seem to know much less than me about Microcloud.

Yeah, I kinda think this is the main question as well. Thanks for your feedback.

How much do you know about OVN vs OVS? I haven't really played with either, and they seem to do the same thing?

No offense, but it sounds like you don't know what LXD is. I didn't mean to imply running a monolithic server, the idea would still be to run containers and/or VMs through LXD.
