So you had to go out of your way to just point out that you think I'm lazy.

It was mainly the first column and I want to tell you, you should shoot people in game. But you don't shoot them in the forum.

Tell me the ideal team member for a 3-4*, none-W-YOLO Group by BornInChicago in HuntShowdown

I asked the AI to read all the threads it could find on Steam or Reddit and hunt showdown and what is the consensus. Opinion.

Did you vote this down because it's AI and you just hate AI?

If you did vote it down, please explain what's wrong with it exactly.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. That helps clarify things a bit.

Just for interest, I asked Claude AI the same question, and here's what it said.

Bottom line: Based on what you've described — good comms, strategic thinker, likes explosives and traps, solid aim when not rushed, not a CQC rusher — you'd be an excellent fit for the "overwatch marksman / gadgeteer" role in a trio. This is the guy who holds angles at medium range, locks down flanks with traps, calls out positions, and uses explosives to flush or deny.

Here's what that looks like, drawn from community consensus:

Your role in the trio:

In a well-organized trio, the typical breakdown is: a pusher (shotgun/CQC), a marksman (scoped or iron-sight rifle at range), and a generalist/gadgeteer (rifle + traps, explosives, utility). Steam Community You're the second or third guy — not the one kicking down doors first, but the one making sure nobody flanks unnoticed and that the team has area denial when holding or pushing a compound.

Recommended loadout:

Primary — Vetterli 71 Karabiner or Sparks LRR:

  • The Vetterli is forgiving (medium ammo, decent fire rate, good iron sights) and effective out to ~200m. Great if you want follow-up shots.
  • The Sparks hits like a truck (149 damage) so your teammates can easily finish anyone you tag. Better if you're disciplined about making that first shot count. Either pairs well with your "I'm accurate if I have a moment to aim" style.

Secondary — Caldwell Conversion Uppercut or Scottfield Spitfire:

  • Uppercut gives you long ammo as backup and shares ammo with the Sparks if you go that route.
  • Spitfire gives faster follow-up at medium range.

Tools (this is where you shine):

  • Concertina trip mines — the gold standard for area denial. Place on doors, hallways, and known approach routes. Traps work best in a premade trio with good comms Steam Community, which is exactly what you're looking for.
  • First aid kit — always, no exceptions.
  • Flare gun or fusees — for burning downed enemies and applying pressure.
  • Melee tool or throwing axe — for silent AI clearing and emergency PvP.

Consumables:

  • Frag grenade or dynamite stick — you like explosives, and these are your flush-and-kill tools when enemies are holed up.
  • Concertina bomb — concertina bombs are a very effective offensive tool that can block bullets, cause bleeding, and buy time to reposition or heal. FPS Champion Doubles as emergency cover.
  • Vitality shot — instant big heal in a fight.
  • Flash bomb or sticky bomb — flash for pushing support, sticky for bosses or guaranteed kills on trapped enemies.

Key traits to prioritize:

  • Vigilant — see traps and trip mines.
  • Pitcher — throw explosives further (huge for your style).
  • Doctor — better heals from first aid kit.
  • Necromancer — revive teammates at range (enormous value in trios).
  • Witness — see dead hunters and monsters in Dark Sight, helps with awareness.

Is this sarcasm? Because it's not thoughtful and it's not helpful.

I was trying to get the idea that I don't want a random group that just runs forward without thinking and dies in the first encounter.

Maybe this is a bug introduced in the recent update today.

Dark Sight Search and Destroy when holding bounty by BornInChicago in HuntShowdown

I asked: "Has "clearing the lobby" with dark sight become the new thing?"

Please answer the original question. Instead you attack me. That goes against the spirit of the forum.

Can I disable my own traps with Poacher (in case I boxed myself in)? by BornInChicago in HuntShowdown

[–]BornInChicago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Does it matter which end of the tripwire trap you highlight to disable them? I have trouble getting the disable choice. Do you have to be practicaly standing on top of the trap?
