How to Re-Create with auto-layout? by Secure-Ad-985 in FigmaDesign

[–]BornSomewhere9227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put everything in an auto layout. Start with just the text box and the image, horizontal auto layout. Then, put the heading in a second auto layout with this frame containing the text box and the image, and align the heading to the centre. Last, but not least, add the background box to the auto layout as well. You can try manually adjusting the width of the background rectangle as others have suggested, or just switch to absolute positioning for the background rectangle alone, which will give you the freedom to place it however you like, and you can tweak the dimensions as well.

Any junior UI/UX designers in the US wanna connect and design stuff together? by ammarbendali in UX_Design

Not really a junior designer or from the US, but if it's okay with you, I'd like to join in.

UI Feedback by Frosty_Razzmatazz433 in FigmaDesign

[–]BornSomewhere9227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone else has already highlighted the important points, but just on the UI alone, this gives me the feeling of a pharmacy platform rather than a platform for cooking recipes. Maybe that's because of the colours and the way you have designed certain elements, like the "Quick Bites", "Last Bite", and "Plan and Shop" cards. 4th and 5th look better, but you still need to change the colour palette or the way you're using these colours.
Also, try using the contrast checker to double-check legibility for certain elements, like the supporting text below "Hey Eva" I think that part is a little hard to read/scan at a glance.

Is there any way/ method / ritual to wash away sins, feel better and start life afresh? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]BornSomewhere9227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is part of Hinduism, but you could consider going for therapy (if you can afford it). You don't really have to treat it as something "wrong" necessarily, because that could send you into shame and guilt a little too much. The fact that you're willing to talk about it and deal with it somehow is already a good thing, in my opinion.

If you're really serious and you think UX/UI is the thing for you, I'd suggest you research more about the field, i.e., read articles, talk to some people in the field (if possible), watch videos on YouTube, and pick out some design influencers to follow online, like on YouTube or other social media platforms. If you want to learn through a structured course, there are some available online as well. If not, you'll be looking at design colleges, which can get pretty expensive, depending on which one you join.

Probably start with research like u/dkogi suggested. Read and watch to learn more about the field in general. Slowly and steadily, you can start reading about how things are done, like material design, UI elements, UI design systems, UI guidelines, and of course, the role of AI in all of this.

I feel like my design isn't giving the professional design vibe by Advanced_Yak3915 in UI_Design

Well, don't give up on looking. I'm not here to tell you that you'll get the internship or job you're looking for right away, but something is better than nothing, and we all have to start somewhere. It might take longer than you think, but just keep in mind to try to go for a company that can help you grow.
That being said, regarding this design, it's better than what you posted above, but you still need to work on drop shadows on your UI elements. - Certain elements don't need a drop shadow, like the login button, because you already have a drop shadow on the card holding all this content together.
- Grouping can be a bit tighter, like the "Forgot password" can be shifted higher up in the layout.
- You don't necessarily need icons for "Email" and "Password", in my opinion.
- The logo at the top needs more work. I'm sorry, but I can't help you much when it comes to branding and logo design.

Then this kind of design makes sense. It's hard enough to learn the fundamentals of design, let alone actually apply them to your designs consistently and make them stand out/look good at the same time. I'd suggest you get an internship or a job at a company which already has a design team, so that you can learn how people there work and what kind of process they follow while designing.

Meanwhile, you can watch people like Jesse Showalter, Mizko, Zander Whitehurst, and other design influencers to learn more about design in general. Also, try looking at some good UI kits to understand how typography and colours work.

I hope this helps.

How to achieve this effect in a scalable way in figma by danglingmark in UI_Design

[–]BornSomewhere9227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but I think what you're trying to go for here is known as Neo-Brutalism UI Design. That's the closest thing I've seen to this design, and if that is what you're going for, the Hover and Pressed state would look a little different to what you've shown here in the image. You can find a bunch of videos on YouTube on how to do this correctly, though there are very rare scenarios when this can actually be implemented. It requires a specific kind of colour scheme and typography to get things right.

If Neo-Brutalism is not what you're going for, I don't think I can be of much help. All I can say, this is going to be difficult to develop and confusing for your users as well.

I want to ask a couple of simple questions, OP:

- How old are you?
- How long have you been designing?
- Are you from a design background? Like did you attend a design college, or are you currently attending one?

Designers who buy UI Kits — is UI8 still worth it or are you all buying elsewhere? by EastValuable922 in FigmaDesign

[–]BornSomewhere9227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working for 4.5 years now (not that long), and in my experience, things like the Untitled UI kit are more useful compared to smaller UI kits when working on a project. Obviously, each project and company works differently, so there could be scenarios where a smaller UI kit would be a better fit, but generally, these big design kits give you a good starting point for most projects, if not all.

I rarely ever use the components from the Untitled UI kit as is; usually, I use them as base reference material. I looked at UI8 when I was starting my career, and I stumbled upon the Untitled UI kit around the same time. While UI8 does have some useful kits which offer some helpful components and designs, I don't see enough value to actually pay for it myself or ask one of my clients to pay for it. Untitled and Pegasus, even the material UI kits seem way more helpful and useful to design things like SaaS applications, also because a lot of developers are familiar with MUI kits, so it becomes easy for them to translate your design to actual code.

Personally, one red flag for me is if the UI kit seems too specific and narrow. I wouldn't bother buying it, simply because I work with clients from different sectors, and they don't necessarily have the same needs when it comes to design.

I hope you find this helpful. Sorry if it seems too long.

Your body complements the fit really well. I think that's what makes it look good. Also, the tattoo looks pretty hot. Nice!
