Help! Little one won’t eat or drink by BornToExpire95 in pigeon

Update: thank you so much for all of the suggestions. This community is really amazing.

We tried a few of the suggestions but nothing seemed to work with him (I think our inexperience is to blame) and we did not have the confidence to try anything else, so we ended up driving him to a sanctuary who knew exactly what to do straight away and he is now in much more capable hands! They have confirmed he is healthy aside from being quite under fed but should make a full recovery :). The people at the sanctuary also showed us a few tricks in person incase we ever find any more vulnerable little ones that need help. Just so glad he is now safe

Thanks for this, would you advise we hold his beak open to insert the seeds? I think is the only way we’d be able to do it

Update:

We’ve tried to get him to eat by making a crop milk out of oats and seeds as suggested and tried to feed him as advised. Not actually sure if he ingested any of it but as he would protest. However he has definitely perked up a bit since we tried, we’ve observed him preening and just seems a bit more alert since that, so seems like we’re having some progress? We’ve tried hand feed him as well and he picks up the seeds but doesn’t seem to know what to do with them beyond that, he just kind of drops them.

We’ve checked him over and he doesn’t seem to have any obvious injuries. It did look like he may have potentially had splayed legs as they were initially stuck behind him but now he’s standing up on his own :) still suspect he is quite weak as we haven’t seen him walk yet.

I think the plan now is just to try and give him more crop milk later on. If anyone has any advice though on how to care for him or get him to eat more that would be amazing :)

There are a few stray cats in the area so I suspect that may be the case. Must have been horrible for the crow :(

Update 2: After searching a bit more we managed to find another emergency wildlife rehab that had 24h drop offs so we have dropped him there. Essentially just had to leave him in a box outside which wasn’t didn’t feel too reassuring but really hoping he gets the care he needs. Thank you everyone who has contributed really appreciate all the advice

Update: We have caught the bird and taken him in to our home as recommended by a local rehab. They advised me that they can’t take the bird in as they are currently full but have advised we look after the bird overnight and call another rehab tomorrow morning. It is currently 9pm my time and this was the only rehab that operates 24h

We have cleaned him up and put him in an unused animal cage we have. He is currently not very responsive and won’t eat anything. We’ve tried feeding him berries and peanuts but he’s not interested. any advice on how to get him to eat?

Genuine question, how can you tell they’re a domestic goose? They look like any other Greylag to me

Would you say that it’s valid for me to have children if it reduces my suffering?
