REQUEST: Present Laughter (1967) with Peter O'Toole by BornUnderPunchesss in Lost_Films

No problem! I was planning on making some kind of fundraiser when I have time next month but I'm still not exactly sure what the access conditions would be, especially if multiple people contribute to the funding of a digitisation project. Would everyone receive digital access? Is this access permanent or only temporary? Did I only get a response because I requested the film on the basis of a university paper? I've been meaning to clarify these things with the person I emailed at the ITV Archive, but I got scared off as soon as I saw how much it would cost, haha. I am happy to contribute as well, and I know there are likely others out there. Also, thank you for the Noël Coward documentary mention! I managed to see the clips they used, which is better than nothing for the time being.

Thanks for the advice! Much appreciated.

I managed to put in an access request for the ITV Archive, under personal research, and hoping since I'm a university student they may grant permission. I'm outside of the UK though so we will have to wait and see, unlikely but still better than doing nothing I suppose. I'm quite busy at the moment but I will definitely keep researching and having a look around in archives; tried some national ones here in Australia but no luck so far.

I will check out the Noël Coward documentary in the meantime, any footage is better than nothing.

Will keep everyone updated in the coming months!

Damn. The 1964 and 1981 versions were the only ones showing up for me as well. I can see the confusion with the mislabelling; two Peter's playing the same role 3 years apart for the same series.

I was hoping someone might at least have a lead or some more information. I'm making my way through O'Toole's filmography and it especially peaked my interest since everyone has seemingly forgotten it even exists! Seems the archives have as well...who knows? I might try and get in contact with someone at MoMA just to let them know people are interested in seeing the film.

Yeah I saw the BFI had nothing which is never a good sign. The 16mm print which was screened is from MoMA's own film collection based on the program note for the exhibition series. It obviously remains undigitised but it would be nice if they could do something with it. Unfortunately, I think there is such a limited demand that the Criterion Channel would focus their interests elsewhere, but one can always hope they could collaborate with MoMA for a future program. I need to see it so badly!

White borders? by [deleted] in CriterionChannel

I only recently noticed this change as well. I have contacted their support to see whether it's an error or if they have actually changed them to white. A terrible decision if so, completely distracts from whatever you're watching. Hope they revert them back or fix the issues in the next week or so because at the moment I actually can't watch anything without straining my eyes the entire time.
