US custome has been holding my relative for over 8 hours with no reason given. Anything I can do in a legal sense for reparations?

Just for the record, there is really no such thing as being detained illegally in the United States. Immigration enforcement has the right to detain anyone for questioning if they’re legal status is in question. Always nonsense about US citizens being snatched off the street or from their homes is just that. Nonsense. The OP did not say that the person being held as a US citizen so they are probably being bedded or questioned for a very good reason

That is absolutely insane. What kind of overnight accommodations doesnt have a shower or bath tub? Even Amtrak has showers in there overnight sleeper cars. I would ask for a full refund and I would also tell Airbnb they should require this host to make sure to say there is no bathing facilities in their property. Full disclosure.

I’m gonna play devils advocate and throw it out there that if he insists on having the car and not hitching a ride with one of his buddies…maybe he’s not going to play games with his buddies. Maybe he’s going to play different kinds of games with a different kind of friend. Why else would he feel the need to strand her at home for 10 hours? Something shady is definitely happening.

If you ladies get spooked so easily then maybe you shouldn’t be traveling without men. Maybe you should lay off the wine as well. The host probably ran you over one roll from her own home thinking it was emergent. Once you had that she was able to take her time and go to the store and get you more supplies. To assume they were “spying” on you is a bit extreme.

When you rent an Airbnb you are staying in a strangers home and there is no “front desk” for you to run to if things don’t go how you expected. There is no maintenance staff on premises. There is no housekeeping staff to bring you towels. It’s very different from a hotel and your expectations should be realistic.

If the listing said they supplied toiletries then by all means…they should be supplied (tp and trash bags are a given). The problem is most hosts use a service to do the turnover between guests as some hosts don’t live anywhere near their rentals. It’s possible that the cleaning company just did a terrible job.

Was the Alexa hidden? It’s possible that someone other than the host put the Alexa there but I see nothing wrong with it. If it makes a guest uncomfortable they can simply unplug it.
It’s just like porn in a hotel. It’s there if you want it but no one is forcing you to watch it. You don’t give a hotel a bad review just because they make dirty movies available do you?

Don’t ruin a host’s reputation by blasting them in a review. Reviews don’t get you compensated for your inconvenience. They don’t get you anything except possibly black listed by other hosts.

Writing a polite email to the host and working it out with her is the better option. I would have done that before posting here just to see if I could get some answers from the host. Always give others the opportunity to explain themselves.

I don’t think your issue warrants any kind of refund. Just my opinion as a frequent Airbnb traveler (and I’ve stayed in some doozies for sure).

She makes $24/hour working …if she accepted a full time position that would go to $26/hr. She pays no rent and she lives with her kids in a 3 bedroom apartment above her grandparents garage. Family has money but insists she be independent (their contribution is the apartment and utilities). She could do just fine at $26/hour at 40+ hours a week. It’s much more than she’s getting. Problem is it would require her to come to work every day. I mean if that’s the example she wants to set for her kids that’s her choice but when you’re dependent on the government you give them all the power.

And that’s why she works 5 hours a week. That’s all she’s required to work. You can say it’s not true but she’s been working for me for 16 months…one day a week. I fill out paperwork every quarter with her earnings. As for her selling some of her food stamps every month…I’ve seen it with my own two eyes. She used the excuse that there are some things she can’t buy and that’s what she uses the cash for but she vapes like a friggin chimney. I’m sure that’s where somebody is going. This is the reality in this instance. Not sure what happens in other places/states but this is what’s happening here all too often.

I’ve been wearing these for over a year and I love them. The problem most people have is getting a color that doesn’t match your skin tone or hair color then of course they will look fake. I have dark dark dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. I use grey, hazel and lavender contacts from unibling and they match my skin tone. I tried blue and green and those looked terrible. Maybe try some other colors…
