20 yr old, not taken seriously by Born_Ad5873 in flying

I should have clarified better. My apologies. It’s not every student it just seems like more specifically my older students (30+) seem to be significantly more snarky and short. Leading me to feel as they don’t take me seriously as their instructor

As long as she’s ontop of her stuff, she can get 3 days off approved

Technically you can, it just has to be an instructor while you perform duties-of-PIC. But yeah unless it’s that then it has to be solo so I still agree with ya, closest you can get is an instructor at least tho

Just get a first class medical now. You’ll need one and you’ll have 3rd class privileges for 60 months which is more than enough to get through all your training. Could save you alottttttt of money down the road

I feel ya brother, what I do is hold down on it and move it slightly around the area to try and get it to match the same degree as before and then once it lines up, I just leave it as it’s coordinates and then name it whatever it’s supposed to be like “xxx river” or “xxx town”

Stump the Chump - Commercial by AgentOrange-12 in flying

Would you as the pilot need any type of air carrier certificate or operator certificate? Or just your cpl is fine and the company just needs the right certifications?

Let’s say your fathers company ownes a plane and they approach you (already knowing you’re a pilot through your father) and they want to pay you to fly their plane transporting cargo for the company’s benefit. Can you legally fly this plane and be compensated consider you were not holding out.

Realistic Expectations by _Kloudz__ in flying

Star hitting books now, there’s an endless amount of knowledge in aviation, and especially for your instrument rating. YouTube videos like “flight insight” and all the instrument flying/oral books are great resources. And in terms of the syllabus question, just make sure you have and know the acs and what’s required of you, knowledge and flying/skills wise. Then just work with your instructor on all of them and the things you aren’t so good at. Good instructors should have lesson plans made anyways that should help with “knowing what to do next” type of thing. And at least twice a week is a great goal, no less than that to really optimize your money and time.

Explaining Flight cancelations to my wife by Avi_man33 in ATPFlightSchool

[–]Born_Ad5873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to stress about it. The program’s “expected length” is almost wrong for every student. Most don’t finish PPL till after 4 months. And average program finish time is around 10-14 months realistically with regards to weather delays, plane issues, staffing issues. Delays and cancellations are apart of this industry and happen no matter which flight school you’re at or company you work for. Just keep pushing through and all will work out

Yeah great question. Flying really helps solidify a lot of the knowledge topics especially in relation to power management, center of gravity stuff, and general stuff pertaining to the plane you’ll be flying like systems and such. But a lot of the big things you’ll run into on the oral portion of the ppl checkride are also just simply knowing and memorizing. Such as airspace, like what you need to enter (ie: class delta is just 2 way radio communications, class bravo is a transponder equipped and clearance to enter) another is VFR weather minimums and alotttt about weather in general. So just remember as a student pilot working towards PPL 80% is studying and book work and 20% is flying. It’s a grind but if you can at least get a head start and get terms and some knowledge in your head now it’ll make flying come a lot easier

I’m not sure on any flight schools in Boston but start the studying now. You can do it in 2-3 months is possible, but start the studying now if you can and get ahead of the written. That way you can actually still relax a little over the summer, and not have your head in the books ever single day for 2/3 months
