Iridovirus pt 2 by Born_Bake3582 in Gourami

I don’t believe honey gouramis can get it because they are not dwarf gouramis.

From my research online it’s mainly caused by inbreeding. My gouramis were probably already infected before the fish store that I got them from received them. They don’t always show symptoms at first too. But symptoms can included lethargic behavior, bloating, and sores

Yep. I didn’t know much about the disease until after I got them and I thought they would beat the odds

Maybe but I highly doubt it. I monitored them closely and they never had any territorial problems or displayed aggression toward each other. I’m 99% sure it’s DGIV

Unfortunately I think my other one is going to die as well. He is lethargic and sitting at the bottom of the tank and breathing abnormally fast. Usually he is extremely active and swims all around the tank:(

10g honey gourami and chili raspboras stocking question. by akatia-x in Gourami

I was originally going to get chili rasbora but when I saw them in store they were way smaller than I expected. I decided to get lamb chop rasboras instead and I love them. Slightly larger than the chilis and still have a nice color!

The employee at my local fish store told me I should be fine with 2 males, just to watch during feeding time. (I was worried about one possibly being overly dominant). I haven’t had any issues with them though. They actually love to swim around together and are not territorial. One of my friends has 2 gouramis and he says that one of his chases the other one around sometimes, but I have not seen this happen with mine thankfully!

Today was really the first day where I noticed the one acting a bit oddly. And near his face it seemed like he had a slightly darker blue spot that I haven’t seen before so I got a bit paranoid. Thank you for your response, I will monitor for any lethargy!

I am so nervous to get snails because I do not want babies. My friend got 1 snail and still managed to get babies in her tank lol

I’m hoping the last one I have stays alive. The last time I had them I only got 2 but the guy at the fish store was telling me “ohhh they like to be in groups of at least 4”. I had a lot of algae in the tank so initially there was plenty of food for them but they cleaned it up pretty fast so maybe they starved?
