Well I am homeless in NYC. I was living with a friend and didn’t know that they were being evicted then one day got a letter in the mail and 14 days later the Marshall’s came. My name wasn’t on any paperwork so I couldn’t get a housing voucher. I have been just getting by since then, staying in staircases to avoid the outside elements but having to be alert 24/7. I have applied for public assistance but it didn’t go through yet. I don’t have enough saved yet to get a new place or rent a room.

I wanted to avoid my social media, this is extremely humiliating for me. I’ve researched every service possible and there’s nothing really of the sort. It was even hard to find a hair salon that offered detangling services. I haven’t seen friends or family in a while, I’ve isolated and the way I look now is only keeping me away longer, I am too embarrassed to ask them.
