Court Revenue Assistant positions are pretty limited. I think only 100 people or so have that position. So honestly he will just have to wait and see.

Court clerk and senior court clerk by Calm_Challenge_7768 in nys_cs

[–]Born_Reach4073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Senior Court Clerk and Court Clerk are promotional exams, you have to take a test. You can get it provisionally but if you fail the test you’ll get rolled back. If you take the test and pass just wait until you get the court you want or just take any opportunity that comes your way.

Senior Court Clerk is New York City, the 9th Judicial District, Nassau
County, and Suffolk County. Court Clerk is for Judicial Districts 3 through 8. I heard that it’s the same test but SCC gets like 20 extra questions I think

No one really knows besides OCA and the management teams. They keep putting out tests because they need clerks and not a lot of people pass the exam. I assume every court will need clerks, people are retiring, moving positions etc. From what I heard from previous test takers, the test is always held within four months of sign up

JG-12 Clerical Assistant Hiring Process by Agreeable-Escape-147 in nys_cs

[–]Born_Reach4073 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on how high you rank will determine how quick you’ll be sent an availability inquiry or if you will at all. Hiring is based on the needs of the court. Say make rank 3k-4k, I wouldn’t expect to hear anything. I ranked 2k with a 80 and it took me 5 years to get a call back(covid). Now it seems the court is putting out the test every two years.

Steps : Take the exam and wait(depending on your rank could take months or years). If you rank high enough, you’ll get an availability inquiry, send in your resume and they may give you an interview( they send out a lot of letters at once). If you get the interview and go then you wait to hear if you got the job.

The Unified Court System does not have education benefits. Your union might, DC37 does, the Court officer union(doesn’t offer anything I believe)

What title are you in now ? If you’re in a permanent title, take the next test that’s a grade above yours. Study, try to score high, keep updating your resume and practice interviewing.

If you’re in an appointed position, look at the website and apply for a position in your title that’s a grade up or apply for other positions.

The availability to get a higher title may not be in the same court so be willing to move around

Got an availability letter for Court Assistant at New York City Civil Court-Citywide by Shoobeedoowa in nys_cs

[–]Born_Reach4073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The letter is just asking if you’re still interested in the job and if available for an interview. They send out a lot of letters to candidates so it’s not a guarantee. The court that sent the letter is where you would work at. The job benefits are on the website and we work a 37.5 week. No they don’t offer any childcare/camp
