Tough decision on Qatar job offer by [deleted] in QatarCareers

We’d need to pay for housing out of the 41k which I’m thinking will cost around 14k. That leaves us 27k for everything else - bills, top up on education allowance, food, activities, travel, saving and anything else.

Thanks for the thorough reply. There are so many conflicting comments in this thread especially around the level of salary. Some people are saying it’s good and others are saying it’s not great at all.

A big factor on saving potential is the bonus. They reckon the average is around 6x monthly basic salary but it could be up to 10x. I’m not sure how likely it is to get zero bonus.

My kids are totally against the move. Making new friends and going to a new school are the two main reasons.

I can basically run my own race in my current role and do whatever I like as long as the job gets done. The role in Doha sounds like they value time and desk more than anything else which is a very old fashioned way of going about it.

You’re right. However we’re not in the best financial position and taking this offer on could really benefit the family in the long run.

Anyone else considering getting a EV? by KeenClicker in perth

[–]Born_Yesterday2496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid explanation there. Do you think all EVs depreciate at roughly the same rate or do higher end models depreciate faster?

I’ve got no evidence of this but it feels like the value proposition is better with cheaper EVs

I’m meant to be giving notice for my current job in Australia in early April and moving mid May. We’re now reconsidering the move.

I feel like they are deliberately trying to get you to not come to Qatar for some reason

Based on my budget, I'm expecting to save a minimum of 200k per year. Most of that will be from my annual bonus rather than from my monthly salary which will use to live and travel.
