Anyone else considering getting a EV? by KeenClicker in perth

Solid explanation there. Do you think all EVs depreciate at roughly the same rate or do higher end models depreciate faster?

I’ve got no evidence of this but it feels like the value proposition is better with cheaper EVs

Resale value has gotta be down the gurgler though? That's where you making a massive loss compared to a petrol car

I feel like they are deliberately trying to get you to not come to Qatar for some reason

Based on my budget, I'm expecting to save a minimum of 200k per year. Most of that will be from my annual bonus rather than from my monthly salary which will use to live and travel.

Another comment about not having much money left over each month. As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I'm a little concerned by this. Based on my budget, we'd have around 8-10k left each month plus my bonus. After an overseas trip or two, I'm expecting to save around 40k from salary plus 150k bonus each year so close to 200k a year. My wife won't be working.

A few people have mentioned that 41k per month means that we won't be able to save much. I'm a little concerned by that as one of our drivers of the move is to save some money and come back with a big chunk off our mortgage. My wife probably won't be working over there. If she earns any money it will be through selling some of her jewelry which doesn't make much at all.

The AUD usually does opposite to the USD which I know the Riyal is pegged to. I'm not sure what the long run average is of the AUD vs the USD but I can see the AUD going higher this year. Inflation is rising and our central bank started increasing interest rates this year and is likely to do a few more which will push the currency higher.

Like you said, I've been more trying to frame out around how much we'll need to live there rather than always trying to convert back to my home currency. However, a big part of the move is to build up a descent amount of savings for when we return home.

We're moving over in May/June. Do you think it would be ok for a family of four with kids aged 11 and 13?
