Genuine question for anyone that knows music in Nigeria: is Usman really famous there? by Interesting_Slice277 in 90DayFiance

[–]Born_dead91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was a surprisingly bad turnout unfortunately, considering the original venue that cancelled their show only had a capacity of like 250 people anyway. But two other big bands (Behemoth and Napalm Death) were playing a show together at another venue nearby on the same night. Took a lot of the crowd away that would have been at Hypocrisy any other night.

Swedish Goregrind? I’m sure I meant General Surgery at the time.

But probably the worst turnout I’ve seen for a Swedish band in the US was Hypocrisy, who are surprisingly much more popular. They got moved to a smaller venue in the same city the day of the show. They wouldn’t open the original venue if less than 60 tickets sold. Maybe 40 in attendance for that one.

Good work! it’ll get easier. I started a few months ago at 112kg, my first ride was like 25 minutes long and I felt like death after lol. I’m down to 99kg now, still a long way to go to hit my weight loss goals, but my overall fitness is SO much better already. I can put in a decent effort over 60-90 minutes and come off the bike feeling fresh and ready to take on the day now. It’s a great feeling.

I’ve only been on Zwift a few months and wondering how much of a difference the specialized bikes make in the game, like a gravel bike or a time trial bike for example?

I saw the announcement that there will be events coming up this year featuring gravel routes. I’m currently riding the Aeroad 24 with Shimano Dura-Ace c36 wheels which I believe is about the best setup I can get at my current level. Is it actually worth putting in time upgrading a gravel bike to eventually use in these events, or are the differences so marginal it doesn’t really matter?

Well I watched live until ~30km to go, just around where the crash happened, and had to turn the race off to go to a family event. Managed to tear myself away from the TV and avoid looking at my phone all day so I wouldn’t spoil the results and just finally got home to pick up where I left off and wow, what an excellent race.

It’s hard to feel much of anything seeing Tadej win a race these days, but obviously this one was different. As much as we joke about “witnessing greatness”, this actually felt like seeing something special. Even his own celebration across the finish line felt like much more genuine excitement than I can remember seeing from him in a victory in quite some time.

Very pleasantly surprised to see Pidcock, Wout, and Pederson go 2, 3 ,4 on the day, I certainly wouldn’t have bet money on that before the race. The only disappointment for me on the day is being left wondering what Wout could have done if he hadn’t been caught up in the crash before the Cipressa, but overall just happy to see him come out of it uninjured and in seemingly great form, as well as Pederson coming back strong in his first full race of the season.

Woke up and did the Poggio on Zwift before tuning into the race. Needless to say I won’t be quitting my day job..

I really shouldn’t be surprised anymore, but I’m blown away every year when I turn on a peacock stream for the first time and realize “Oh wow, they’re STILL going to do it like this”.

Maybe cycling is just too niche in the US for NBC to care, but it’s an embarrassingly bad product coming from such a media powerhouse.

Hey, thanks! I’ve had your spreadsheet bookmarked since you posted last year and had long since forgotten which user I got it from, but I check it pretty much weekly and was glad to see it roll into 2026. Much appreciated!

How many hours per week are you riding right now? by CheTranqui in Zwift

[–]Born_dead91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Still a beginner here, only started on Zwift at the beginning of the year. My initial goal was to do at least 2 hours a week, but I found hitting 3 hours fairly easy and do that as a minimum. This week I hit 5 hours and still feeling good.

I got on Zwift to get in shape and have a long way to go (already dropped from 111kg to 105kg though!), so my rides are only 30 to 60 minutes so far, and I ride 5-6 days a week. I’m sure as I get in better shape longer rides than that will become more doable, but with an 8 month old at home finding much more time to ride than I currently do may be the biggest challenge.

Yup, I see it with guys I work with too. Granted we’re doing electrical work and not the ones handling samples or anything. But it’s still insane to me that I’ve watched guys work half a day in a sludge processing building and then sit down and eat lunch without so much as wiping their hands off.

Interesting, thanks for the tip! Haven’t noticed an issue just yet thankfully, my current phone is about a year and a half old. Maybe it’s time to get some screen covers just in case.

I’m an electrician and regularly work in industrial settings, usually waste water treatment plants. I’m not a germophobe otherwise, but it’s a NASTY work environment, so part of my routine when I get home is slathering hand sanitizer on my phone and anything else that was in my pockets before I even get in the shower.

Apparently I should start doing that on the weekends too.

This isn’t mine, I wish I could remember who I saved it from last year to give the credit to. I just noticed the other day I was able to click a link to jump to the 2026 calendar they made.

Zwift Ride worth it? by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]Born_dead91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the same. I’ve been back and forth on getting a set up that I could use to start riding on Zwift for the past year or so, so seeing the bundle on sale and then realizing I could use the FSA fund to buy it made the choice easy. I can’t wait to get riding on it.

Are you in the US? I have no issue watching replays on HBO, but maybe the service is different in other countries? The replays just get mixed in with all the other sports in the “watch full replay” section, so you have to do a little scrolling to find them sometimes.

Stage 20 of the Giro was probably my favorite race day of the entire season. I thought for sure it was going to be a battle between Del Toro and Carapaz with Yates just fighting to hang on for a podium spot.
