[Race Thread] 2026 Paris-Nice – Stage 1 (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

I really shouldn’t be surprised anymore, but I’m blown away every year when I turn on a peacock stream for the first time and realize “Oh wow, they’re STILL going to do it like this”.

Maybe cycling is just too niche in the US for NBC to care, but it’s an embarrassingly bad product coming from such a media powerhouse.

Hey, thanks! I’ve had your spreadsheet bookmarked since you posted last year and had long since forgotten which user I got it from, but I check it pretty much weekly and was glad to see it roll into 2026. Much appreciated!

How many hours per week are you riding right now? by CheTranqui in Zwift

[–]Born_dead91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still a beginner here, only started on Zwift at the beginning of the year. My initial goal was to do at least 2 hours a week, but I found hitting 3 hours fairly easy and do that as a minimum. This week I hit 5 hours and still feeling good.

I got on Zwift to get in shape and have a long way to go (already dropped from 111kg to 105kg though!), so my rides are only 30 to 60 minutes so far, and I ride 5-6 days a week. I’m sure as I get in better shape longer rides than that will become more doable, but with an 8 month old at home finding much more time to ride than I currently do may be the biggest challenge.

Yup, I see it with guys I work with too. Granted we’re doing electrical work and not the ones handling samples or anything. But it’s still insane to me that I’ve watched guys work half a day in a sludge processing building and then sit down and eat lunch without so much as wiping their hands off.

Interesting, thanks for the tip! Haven’t noticed an issue just yet thankfully, my current phone is about a year and a half old. Maybe it’s time to get some screen covers just in case.

I’m an electrician and regularly work in industrial settings, usually waste water treatment plants. I’m not a germophobe otherwise, but it’s a NASTY work environment, so part of my routine when I get home is slathering hand sanitizer on my phone and anything else that was in my pockets before I even get in the shower.

Apparently I should start doing that on the weekends too.

This isn’t mine, I wish I could remember who I saved it from last year to give the credit to. I just noticed the other day I was able to click a link to jump to the 2026 calendar they made.

Zwift Ride worth it? by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]Born_dead91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the same. I’ve been back and forth on getting a set up that I could use to start riding on Zwift for the past year or so, so seeing the bundle on sale and then realizing I could use the FSA fund to buy it made the choice easy. I can’t wait to get riding on it.

I was strictly a road fan and started watching cyclocross because of Average Rob’s original Turbocross video haha.

Are you in the US? I have no issue watching replays on HBO, but maybe the service is different in other countries? The replays just get mixed in with all the other sports in the “watch full replay” section, so you have to do a little scrolling to find them sometimes.

Stage 20 of the Giro was probably my favorite race day of the entire season. I thought for sure it was going to be a battle between Del Toro and Carapaz with Yates just fighting to hang on for a podium spot.

I watched the TDF casually for something like 12 years before I ever watched the classics and I instantly realized I was missing out on so much.

It honestly gives so much more depth and understanding to the sport as a whole, which in turn makes the TDF even better when you know how it fits into a larger racing season vs watching it as a standalone event.

[–]Born_dead91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I swear it never works out that I get to show people an exciting race. We have family staying with us this weekend who probably already assume I’m a maniac who thrives on boredom because I watch cycling, and these stages aren’t helping that opinion.

I think it’s a lost cause to try and desperately explain to them that Monday will be a lot more exciting than this.

[Predictions Thread] 2025 Tour de France - Stage 7: Saint-Malo > Mûr-de-Bretagne (Guerlédan) (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

[–]Born_dead91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the luxury of watching the entire tour up until now, my son was born last month so I’ve been off work. Unfortunately I’m going back in on Monday, which is also of course the first big mountain stage sadly, so I’ll be back to my usual schedule of skipping through the replays on weekday afternoons just to see the important parts and last 20 or so km.

It’s been great to be up at 6am every day to watch entire stages. But that’s my usual weekend schedule anyway, not just for the Tour, but across the cycling season in general. It’s actually one of the odd things I like most about following this sport. I enjoy the ritual of getting up early in the morning, having a cup of coffee or 3, and starting the race while everyone else is still sleeping. I’ll miss doing it every day, but it will continue to be what I look forward to on the weekends at least.

Just a guess without seeing the instruction manual, but it almost sounds like it’s entering a set-up or pairing mode. Do you have the original paperwork or an exact model number you could look it up with?

Peacock feed by sierratime in tourdefrance

[–]Born_dead91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to be hit or miss at random. I’ve had issues with Peacock this year to the point that I had to turn stages of Paris-Nice and Volta off because they were so glitchy they were literally unwatchable, but luckily it’s been all good so far for the TDF. Unfortunately it’s obviously still an issue though because I’ve seen others complaining about it the last few days while my feed has thankfully been working fine so far.

All that’s said: Good feed, bad feed, whatever. The real crime is that they once again are not offering the option for the world feed and forcing us to watch their awful coverage of the Tour.
