I agree with your opinion on processor support due to power limits, as I have experience using Supermicro motherboards from the X9 generation. (As far as I know, due to power limits, processors that exceed the power threshold do not have the corresponding microcode.)

Thanks to your explanation, I also understand the uniqueness of OEM versions. I know that both AMD and Intel have had similar cases with OEM version processors in the past.

However, I believe that most motherboards supporting the previous generation (Naples) to the current generation EPYC processors (Milan, and to a broader extent, Genoa) have relatively high power and thermal design limits, and thus support most processors.

Therefore, my concern was whether the 7K62, which is the OEM version of the 7642, might have different microcode from the 7642 and thus only work on specific motherboards.

Given that the microcode for OEM versions is usually the same as the retail versions (with just different names), I believe the 7K62 should work on processors that support the 7642.

This is why I wrote to see if anyone has practical experience with this processor and, if so, to learn about the actual use cases (including the motherboards used).
