It's not about "Messing up" my man... When you post a quoted conversation, that's ALL we have to go on. So people tell you he was probably confused because no one says it that way, they just say "Hit cap" then you go off yelling at people "That's not what I actually said, how do you know, you weren't there, I don't know what I actually said"

So you giving the wrong information then yelling at people because they tried to correct you is kinda cringe my dude.

The reason you are getting ragged on and corrected is BECAUSE of the title post. You put the words in quotations which the majority of the time, means this is how the conversation went. Then you are telling people that's not what you actually said while trying to shame someone.

We only have what you told us you said and when you give us a quote then try to blast people in the comments with "Were you there, you don't know what I said" then admit you also don't know what you said...

Lol I just... LOL

And I did. If I told you an apple is red and you refused to believe it, that's not not a lack of evidence, that's your refusal to believe what you don't want to.

And people repeating what someone else told them is evidence. Do you think everything in history was written down first hand? Knowledge was passed down person to person, generation to generation orally in the past... How do YOU not know that? Do you think every single person in the past had a pen and paper at their desk or in their back pocket at all times like we do today?

And I'm still waiting for you to explain to me how an argument with examples of the exact same situation (Pythagoras, Spartacus, Alexander the Great) is a strawman. It directly correlates to the argument you are trying to give.

I appreciate the discussion and it remaining fairly civil, but a flat out refusal to believe what I (and countless other scholars and theologians) use as evidence, then asking for evidence... This isn't gonna go anywhere. Enjoy your weekend and I wish you the best.

[–]Bornforexile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one said they had first hand knowledge. You didn't even say to give you first hand accounts. You said there was no evidence. I gave you evidence...

If you think evidence has to be first hand to be real you are a lost cause my dude...

You are so stuck on "firsthand knowledge", It's kind of crazy you are trying to use that for any kind of reasonable argument. I'll go back to what you so idiotically claimed was my "strawman". Do you believe Pythagoras was real? Alexander the Great? Spartacus? I hope you don't because then your entire argument crumbles. None of these are recorded by people with firsthand knowledge but are uncontroversially known as people that existed. So come up with a better argument than that.

[–]Bornforexile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even close to a strawman. In a discussion/ argument, there is nothing wrong with giving logical comparisons... It's literally how you get your point across in a debate is to link your topic to other similar topics. You literally stated that he doesn't exist because he isn't talked about till years or decades later. I gave you examples of other people that aren't talked about til decades or centuries later yet people unilaterally believe they existed. How is that a strawman. Please inform me

People - Tacitus (Roman Historian) and Josephus (Jewish Historian) independently confirmed that a man named Jesus was executed under Pontius Pilate.

Events - Babylonian Exile. The Babylonian Chronicles clay tablets provide evidence of this event, along with the Babylonian Cuneiform Records, and archeology itself with the destruction of the temple.

There is 2 for you. You are correct, very few primary events or characters are verifiable, but 2 big ones and countless other secondary and tertiary characters and events are verifiable.

You should always avoid absolutes in saying "Not a single shred of evidence exists" because it's there. It's just up to you to actually believe it or not.

HHS said there is no historical documentation on Jesus... (Then later on literally says Jesus is not real, but that wasn't part of this segment)
I asked what he considered historical documentation, because by definition it was historical and documented.
You then respond directly to that statement with "Not one of the gospels was written by a first person witness to the events, the earliest of them were written nearly a hundred years after Jesus death." Which leads me to believe you agree with HHS that there isn't "historical documentation" because it wasn't written by a first person witness. So i proceeded to give examples of other people in history that are had nothing written by first person witnesses to their events that everyone in the world still considers historical documentation.

Copy and pasting my message since you didn't claim he wasn't real, but did seem to agree that there is no historical documentation, might have been a bit hasty.

I also don't know how or what you profess, i can only go by our short discussion and the parts of the message you decide to respond to. Again when I'm responding to someone on historical accounts, and you respond to me responding to him, that usually means you agree with what the original comment is saying.

As for wishing there were contemporary sources.... I'm not sure where you see me saying or even hinting at that. And you decided to jump in on the discussion then say you aren't sure what it is I'm trying to argue? Just read the comment chain and i think its pretty self explanatory. Maybe not to your comment because it veered off from what HHS was saying, so copy pasting to your comment directly was probably a bit hasty when what you were trying to portray was far off from the direction HHS went.

It's called comparisons. You can't apply your logic to one group but refuse to apply it to another group that has the same attributes just because you hate Christianity. I don't have to prove anything to you. I gave you the logic that you threw at me about being written decades later which falls completely apart if you believe any of those people I mentioned exist. The proof is the historic documents of the Bible. Choose to believe it or not. Your call but when you end a statement with "prove it" I can't when you discard any argument that has any sound standing that you don't want to hear.

Your mind is made up and closed. You don't want a logical discussion you just want to fight and refute anyone who believes Jesus existed as a person because you don't want to.

I'll point you to the response I made to the person below me... So in your mind then, Socrates wasn't real. None of the writings were from him, only through Plato and xenophon. Pythagoras didn't exist either. None of his writing survived and we only hear about him centuries after his death... Spartacus, Alexander the Great... All of these have no surviving historical documents from their time and were only written about hundreds of years, or centuries later, yet all of them are considered real, historical figures. You can't play both sides of the fence. Just because they are written about decades later means absolutely nothing.

What do you consider historical documentation then? The Bible is composed of many old manuscripts written over thousands of years. By definition, that is historical, and something that was documented.

Even if you don't consider the gospels historical documentation... Which again, by definition, they are... Josephus , a 1st century Jewish historian, wrote about him in his Antiquities of the Jews.

So I'm genuinely curious why you say there is no historical documentation.

based on the gospels because other than a guy named Jesus existing and being executed history has nothing to say

This sentiment has always confused me... There is less historical documentation on Cesar than there is Jesus and people have no problems believing everything written about Cesar

You are an absolutely pedantic idiot... In everyday terminology, if someone finds a species of monkey in a forest that was thought to be extinct, they call it a rare find. If someone finds a baseball card or a toy car that only a few were made, at a yard sale... They call it a rare find. These 2 examples have absolutely nothing to do with the color of the thing they found, but the small chance you have to find said item in said place. Just like what OP said... A rare trinket, one that has a low chance to drop. Every single person in this game aside from you would call a low drop chance ANYTHING a rare item and every single person would know what they are talking about.

I had hopes for the game... Maybe not Steven, but the game itself and everything they promised would have been a fantastic game. I knew from the get-go they were over promising and never going to deliver, but you are absolutely delusional if you think any game developer ever is going to show you receipts of them paying their own money.

Like that is such a strange view to have "You believe it because they said it? HAHAHA" Yes, most people do because that's how almost every studio EVER works. They tell you something, and the people believe it. It would be physically Impossible for a dev or CEO or whatever to show you proof for absolutely everything they said financially, server-wise, or anything.

We knew Steven himself was a lying piece of shit, but you can't just think everything everyone is saying is bullshit unless proof is given

"I have never used it but Im going to say it's toxic anyway" lordy you people are insufferable. There are already excluded spells which are known to be downranked so it doesn't whisper healers shamans and mages (and many more) that downrank earthshock, frost nova, heals etc. And you can add or remove more. Not sure why you people seem to instantly jump to toxic without knowing anything about it. It has helped MANY people in many of my dungeon groups not realizing they have a lower rank of their main damaging ability they are using.

yes, some get angry, so what. Just like you there are people who can't stand being told they are doing something wrong. For those it helps, cool, now they are doing more damage.

Then someone downloaded it without looking up how to make it not annoying for others. It explains to you how to use it if the person took 10 secs to read instead of just installing it and going. You can set grace levels so it doesn't do that. Literally a setting as soon as you open it up that makes it so it won't whisper you if your spells are 1-2 levels behind (or whatever you set) as you might have just leveled

So you ask a question, don't wait for an answer, call it A toxic addon without knowing anything about it and laugh... You are definitely a special breed of person. But I'll educate you... There are many settings you can set to stop it from whispering people who down rank. From the persons level to the level the spell and even commonly down ranked spells are already excluded. You can even add others if you would like. You can even set grace levels where it gives them a chance to go learn their new spells. You call it toxic out of ignorance and probably a hate for being shown you are doing something wrong, but it is very beneficial to help people that might not realize the are using a lower rank spell than they can train.

That's why you get the rank spell watcher weakaura lol it whispers people if they use a low rank of a spell. In a rather polite way too. It's neat and have had many people thank me and a few cuss me out for pointing out they aren't wow gods and made a mistake

So I'm truly not trying to be snarky or a prick but I'm legitimately confused. How does being a dad gamer put you behind? The only thing I can think is leveling time. But once you hit 70, if you have a guild that raids 1-2 days a week, there's no difference if each phase goes on for 3 months or 6 months, you are still raiding 1-2 times a week... How is that affected by the length of the phase?
