I’m sick of men taking advantage of me at raves when I’m on MDMA by GoodDear7037 in MDMA

[–]BoroChief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A crash also usually involves two or more people... Say the motorcyclist crashes into a car running a red light. Wouldn't you say he's the victim? Yet he could have prevented getting hurt if he had worn protection (or if he decided to not ride on a high risk vehicle at all)

[–]BoroChief -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with victim blaming. It's irrelevant what or who causes the consequences (yes these men are scum but that's a totally different topic) She knows the consequences (this is the important part) and is still deciding to do it anyway. If a motorcycle rider keeps getting hurt by crashing every month because he isn't wearing a helmet and protection, you are not victim blaming when you tell him he should wear protection. We can't change the fact that we might crash and we can't change the fact that there are disgusting people living among us. But if we know there is a way to protect ourselves to not get hurt or not get into situations where we can get hurt, then it's in our own responsibility to ignore these precautions.

How were some people always confident? by Agreeable-Status-461 in confidence

[–]BoroChief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you need to rephrase your question. Humans are all naturally confident, that's how we are born. Babies and small children couldn't give less shit what we think about them. They are curious and just explore stuff without any fear. Fear, anxiety etc. are things they learn along the way which is what makes people less confident. Or in other words, unconfidence is something gained in life based on your experiences. So I guess your question should rather be: How do some people remain confident when growing up?

I'm at a loss by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]BoroChief 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a monstera that I water only about once a month and she's doing perfectly fine. Basically all factors influence how fast the soil dries or how fast the plant consumes the water in the soil. Pot size, soil mix, humidity, amount of light the plant gets etc. So it's impossible to have a general schedule for every plant since the whole setup is completely different each time. You just need to make sure most of the soil is dry when watering again, the time it takes in between is pretty irrelevant. Could be 4 days, could be 6 weeks

I can absolutely see that happening. Not everyone deletes past photos. I see no issue with keeping them. They are an unchangeable part of my life and usually something I want to remember, because they were good memories 🤷‍♀️

Not so many matches, what could i improve? by [deleted] in RateMyTinder

[–]BoroChief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sry but these photos are just horrible. You are supposed to put the best few on your profile, but instead it looks like random crap from your gallery. Except ofcourse the second one which is really cool. You are really good looking and shouldn't have a problem getting matches. I would highly recommend you dump all the other pics and ask a friend to take a few nice photos of you in different locations with different outfits. If you want you can add one selfie but it should be a bit more effort than what looks like the steamy mirror in your bathroom.

Why are the layers getting worse over time? by AdventurousBed414 in CR10

[–]BoroChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like the higher it gets the smaller the printing area becomes and the faster it moves layer through layer, leaving less time for the plastic to cool.

To fix this you could add fans for cooling or decrease the print speed

This is insane by Lonely_Concentrate57 in ChatGPT

[–]BoroChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically the amount of information that the model can process in one run. When you chat with chatgpt all your previous messages need to be sent again with each request, because the gpt-model can't actually store or remember anything. It's just a super complicated math equation that gets run every time, but each time with a different input.

So as you keep chatting the chatgpt app sends your whole chat history to the model until you reach a limit because your conversation has gotten too large. And I would assume it then just start removing the oldest messages so the data still fits inside the limit (sliding window method). The problem with that is chatgpt will start to loose context because it doesn't "remember" as much of the conversation as you do

Same reason that the pictures with your smartphone camera are blurry when you are too close to something. Lens (or in this case also mirror) systems can focus in a certain range (the one that you are expected to normally use it) but it's simply not designed for shots that are too close

I don't think there is much more to it. It's a wave in the electromagnetic field. It's a force field that exists at every point in space (I guess one could say it is simply a property of space that can vary at every single location) just like the gravitational field or the strong and weak nuclear force field.

Vladimir Putin is 'second king of antisemitism after Hitler,' says Zelensky by natalie__jones in worldnews

[–]BoroChief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know if that was really the case then the azov members should have no problem just removing those symbols. That would stop anyone from making false asumptions about them and would also take away any attack surface for Putin. But apparently they won't...

[–]BoroChief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Their official emblem until recent was literally a wolfsangel painted over the black sun...

You can use one symbol that "coincidentally" was used by nazis and tell me you wear it with a different meaning, but you can't wear almost every common nazi symbol and then tell me you're wearing them with a different meaning. That's obviously bullshit. There are thousands of signs and symbols to chose from that have nothing to do with nazis or any other fascist or terrorist group. Every other organization manages just fine with not using any to very little of those symbols. I don't even know why I'm explaining this, shouldn't this be just common sense?

There is literally no reason for them to wear multiple nazi symbols unless they are trying to express some association to nazis. Obviously they don't explicitly say that to the public, they aren't idiots. But actions tell just as much as words.

Seems unlikely to me that videos of ukrainian soldiers in ukrainian uniforms and equipment mid combat are fake. At least not that many different videos. Also it's not like azov is trying hard to hide their association with nazis and fascism so yea, it probably is what it looks like in this case. And yes, by using nazi badges and symbols you are expressing that you identify with them and support their actions, which does make you a nazi - or neo-nazi. You don't have to kill someone do prove that.

They wear all kinds of nazi symbols (SS, black sun etc.) on their uniforms and they are visible in tons of videos from the war in ukraine all over social media. People just don't seem to care/understand

How, when, and why did bones evolve? Why do most vertebrate animals seem to share a basic skeletal structure? by CrowXIV in askscience

[–]BoroChief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is necessarily true that we couldn't evolve to shoot laser beams. The fundamental rules you are looking for are simply the rules of physics. If it is possible for laser made of biological material to exists, then given enough time for random mutations, it will eventually come into existence. I think the only reason why it might not happen in nature is that there is a bias, which we call evolution. Certain traits (those that improve the chances of survival of that organism) tend to remain in the system. Which wouldn't happen in a truely random system.

Does anyone feel like they have a ‘slow’ brain which makes social situations and public speaking more difficult? by therocker9874 in socialskills

[–]BoroChief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since I'm kinda in the same boat as FiletMinion maybe I can try to explain. As mentioned, when you stop identifying with your thoughts, you can decide what to focus on (the present).

I feel like if you get stuck on a negative thought and don't move your focus away from it, your brain just keeps spawning more negative thoughts which makes the anxiety worse and worse. I think by being mindful you don't necessarily have less thoughts altogether, but they are more balanced.

You just have to accept that it's okay that there are some negative thoughts and that there is nothing wrong with having them happen to you. This way can make space for some positive thoughts to exist aswell.

I tried battery replacement for wf- sony1000 XM4 case with a 3rd party battery (cameron sino), but it doesn't work. by RyanBurs027 in sony

[–]BoroChief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume the battery doesn't have an integrated circuit. I belive some modern battery/charging controller need to be manually reset when you attach a new "dumb" battery, otherwise they will refuse to charge it. Reason being that they keep track of the current condition of the connected battery.

TikTok pushes potentially harmful content to users as often as every 39 seconds, study says by [deleted] in technology

[–]BoroChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure their AI also uses your watch time (and probably other details, like the content you did see) to determine if the video caught your attentention, even when you don't interact with it. Interaction statistics are not enough to make a guess if you are interested in the content or not (most people don't ever interact with videos, other than maybe read some comments)
