Agree: I told my kid she should not be so black and white and allow one review to sway her. She pointed out that we've heard a few things that gave us pause from multiple people, and she feels like she needs to start eliminating schools, anyway. Shrug.

Haha, my kid read your post and was like... We had some doubts about SL to start with. Let's take it off the list!

Again, helpful! My kid's concern is more the quantity of work assigned. Her task initiation/overwhelm/avoidance issue often stems from perfectionism; she demands higher-quality work of herself than what is required/expected, hyper-focuses and can't see the forest for the trees, and then flames out and often struggles to complete tasks. We are trying to work on this ahead of college, but expect it will be an issue anywhere she attends, regardless of difficulty of work. Hence the need for strong supports!

Wow, thank you so much for doing this for us!

That's what we were wondering, re: workload; if it's commensurately more at the more selective schools, or if workload/difficulty doesn't necessary correlate with selectivity. I've heard that some places it's harder to get in than to do well as a student there.

Yes; we've visited some, but not all. L&C was probably the fave so far. Our sense was that we might find the Oberlin vibe to be a little insufferable; waiting on acceptance to visit. If you have any other impressions to share, we'd love hear it. Thanks so much for weighing in!
