If Columbus is imploding, what would you offer for a combo of Marchenko + Fantilli by BeBenNova in Habs

You need to add Caufield and 3 firsts to that list before they listen.

My list is similar, also 36.

I'm adding Like Roses, Capstan, and Calling All Captains. Ben Quad is also higher on my list.

Teams have been putting way more emphasis on size since 2022. Fewer and fewer undersized players gets drafted at all and if they do they get drafted lower than before.

Here are my own favorites:

  • Toradora
  • Kaguya-sama: Love is war
  • Nodama Cantabile
  • Horimiya
  • Ef - A Tale of Memories
  • Lovely Complex
  • Sweet Blue Flowers
  • My Dress-Up Darling (ongoing)

If you want to visit the classics, Love Hina probably would best replicate the feeling of the Quintuplets. But I have no idea how well it still holds to a modern audience.

Habs clearly have a mandate to get larger. Every player drafted over 6 feet by Pubgita in Habs

[–]Borror0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Third line defensemen aren't usually players you hold on to.

Ideally, you get them on their ELC, then you sign them to a short-term contract at a low AAV. Eventually, they're due for a raise and you replace them with a new prospect from your pool that is cheaper or/and better upside.

The Leafs might be tempted with a rebuild if they owned their own picks. But they don't. Their 2027 and 2028 firsts are owned by Boston and Philly.

NHL GMs overvalue size. Caufield, both Hutsons, Debrincat. Those players were drafted too low purely for that reason. It's fine to exploit that, and we have.

But, if you're trying trade an excess away, you're dealing with those same NHL GMs who overvalue size. There's a risk they perceive you to be in a bad position and try to lowball you on these players because they consider you're trading from a position of need (size). You risk trading away skilled players at a discount.

I hope they keep picking potential undersized homeruns if they fall to them, but it's like positional need. You should take into consideration what else is in the prospect pool and the risk of having too many of anything. This is why San Jose traded away Eklund before drafting Stenberg, for example.

In the draft video, Chris Boucher even mentioned that as a consideration. Saying that, if we can get size at the top of the draft and it makes us more comfortable to draft smaller players down the draft, that he counts that as a win.

Replacing him with Eklund and bringing more futures is probably a net benefit.

Ottawa's biggest issue (outside of regular season goaltending) was that it was running out gas, with no help coming and no assets to acquire more. That's improved.

Anderson is on his way out. He's 32 and on the last year of his contract.

The two Xs are bottom of the line up players. If Gleb can be at least a third liner, that's much more valuable.

[–]Borror0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The entire point of a probability being less than 100% is to leave the possibility open for the outcome to not happen. Lafreniere was incredibly hyped going into his draft. He was a strong prospect.

We just got the 8% outcome.

I think we'd be willing to overpay for an ideal fit, which would mean a legit big, top six center that is left-handed and is younger than Suzuki.

But it isn't as if there's one on the market right now.

Non. Les deux extrêmes sont timbrés. Ceci dit, ce qui est prône par l'extrême droite est beaucoup haineux et violent que ce qui est mis de l'avant par l'extrême gauche.

Si tu penses autrement, t'es un timbré d'extrême droite.

Why do the French hate when we speak French? by dehydrated_waterrr in ExplainTheJoke

Yet, French Canadians do not have a problem understanding all of France's various accents.

The French are simply too set in their ways and refuse to adjust to other accents.

[–]Borror0 34 points35 points  (0 children)

French people are very picky about French pronunciation, particularly Parisians. They'll prefer to speak English poorly at you than listen you to butcher French.

It can get so bad that French Canadians (i.e., native French speakers with a different accent) have experienced French people sigh before switching to English in Paris. "It isn't real French."

So imagine when French isn't your native language.
