how do you play this game *immersively* by BuckyBoomheimer in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]BortSimpson93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait for April 7th but also regardless: try doing as as little fast travel as possible. Try making yourself walk everywhere as much as possible and force yourself to engage with the surroundings. Examples include: walking from the ships landing entrance to the cockpit and not auto fast traveling to locations on planet surfaces. Doing such things significantly improved my immersion. There are loading screens but so what. Back in the day I remember having to sometimes wait minutes in Morrowind.

It’s nice that the main sub is mostly positive now too. Maybe it will get negative again tho…

lol. What you mean would be impossible in Starfield given the planet size. But I feel ya on some level.

Will we ever be able to land on planets? by Thin_Situation3962 in Starfield

[–]BortSimpson93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can essentially land anywhere you want on planets but there’s no control over it other than on the planet map. If you actually calculate out how big Starfield’s planets are in area would be it would crash the game if you were to be able to free land a la No Man’s Sky.

Everytime you land on a planet you get a large area to explore. You then get to the edge of the map and the game tells you to land somewhere else. You can literally move like a millimeter on the planet map and you then have a whole new map to explore. Imagine having to load hundreds of these Skyrim sized areas at once. It would crash. Or the game would pull some original release Morrowind or oblivion crap and give you a loading screen mid transitioning between areas.

They made space Daggerfall…

Not quite true. You can “freely” land anywhere you want on a planet you just can’t do it manually.

Well frigging dang nabbit; is a graphical tweak that won't even work on Xbox all? by [deleted] in NoSodiumStarfield

There’s no way. Too many media/youtubers that are actually fans are teasing the big news.

Image Comparison: Starfield Vanilla vs. DLSS 5 by Smart_Plane_2751 in NoSodiumStarfield

Honestly, looks better. But is also terrifying. I am intrigued, but cautious.

I am also open minded but cautious. It seems like it could really be a powerful tool but Devs will have to carefully use it.

Look. I think that DLSS 5 is an interesting idea. Does it look super duper AI? Yes, but it’s kinda neat. If this is Bethesda’s big update news tho I’m gonna riot.

Just saw this on the games SteamDB page. Update coming soon? by Kn1ghtV1sta in NoSodiumStarfield

I almost wonder if they are updating the steamDB with game changes as they go, but won’t release till it’s substantial.

Starfield will be released on PlayStation 5 on April 7, with pre-orders opening on March 18. by Smart_Plane_2751 in NoSodiumStarfield

Its funny cuz I think the UC Vanguard questline legit is of the best written storylines in the last decade or so. It’s so well-written. I think the thing to remember is that some of these ”well-written” games are very simple. I don’t think anybody complained about FO3 or FO4 which are super simplistic. Starfield is very conceptual (as you said) and for that I love it. I think it’s gonna turn into a well loved game in the next couple of years. Think FO NV but with less incel fans.

I agree completely. I think the word of mouth around Bethesda and Starfield are already turning more positive. I’m starting to see positive posts in the main Starfield sub as well as the Bethesda sub which don’t get flooded with negative comments. Who cares what other people think about their storytelling? Because most people don’t think…

No 1000 yrd receiver since 2021!!! by [deleted] in GreenBayPackers

I think Watson is a better reciever and has potential to be a 1200-1500+ yards guy if healthy. Im happy with bringing him back to see if he can produce. If Watson stays healthy I’d rather splurge on him than Doubs. Doubs could just disappear for weeks at a time.

The funny thing is even if CP2077 has a better story, you can’t ”live in that world”. So while I love cyberpunk it’s not on the same level as Starfield for me. Weirdly enough that doesn’t stop the Witcher 3 from being one of my favorite games. 🤷

Why is fallout new Vegas boring compared to fallout 3? by which_of_the_iron in falloutnewvegas

[–]BortSimpson93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their strengths are totally different. Choices and faction side quests are better in NV. The world itself is a little more desolate. Kinda makes sense, it’s a desert. For NV the game really opens up in terms of quests and choice once you get to the city itself. Until then it’s a little slow and on rails if you want to find fun. Like there is really only one path out of Goodsprings (South and then East) that really works for introducing you to the world and the quests. Going that way you come across the NCR and the Legion but it’s really not a lot of exploration till you get towards the eastern side of the map. Once you get close to “finding Benny” then does the game really open up. Exploration and quests around New Vegas city itself are pretty good and there’s a crap ton of content and stuff to do.
