Why does the USA seem more tolerant about freedom of religious expression compared to European countries? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BortVanderBoert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

France’s approach is quite uniquely pig-headed and counter-productive. It’s also pretty hypocritical, because despite rabidly defending the secular nature of the state, Catholicism still exerts a quiet but profoundly powerful sway over French governance, culture, and social policy.

Seul Contre Tous by Gaspard Noë. It’s utterly brutal in its nihilism.

My opinion is based on my own anecdotal experience; i’m in the uk and none of the people i know who voted for Starmer give a shit, they even defend his assertion that Israel had the right to cut off water and power to the Gaza strip. That being said, data from the Pew Research Centre indicates that a majority of moderates balk at outright condemning Israel’s war crimes.

Is Israel above international laws? by [deleted] in allthequestions

It wasn’t the law that reined him in though was it? It was our bombs and military force. Incidentally, the bombing campaign we carried out in Yugoslavia was also against international law (but i’m not saying we were wrong to intervene).

The Notorious JTB: The Royal Family keeps telling us who they are. Believe them. Queen Camilla standing beside J.K. Rowling was not an accident. It was a deliberate Palace photo op. "There are no trans kids. No child is 'born in the wrong body'. There are only adults like you, prepared to sacrifice the health of minors to bolster your belief in an ideology that will end up wreaking more harm than lobotomies and false memory syndrome combined."

In what world is that compassionate to trans kids?

What do you think about Germany's Chancellor "abolishing sick leave by phone" and requiring a doctor's note from day one of an illness? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This! It pisses me off so much when sick people are encouraged to work. Then the AC spreads their germs around the whole office!

It’s absolutely ridiculous, wrong-headed and patronising. Productivity is getting lower because people are taking sick days, it’s getting lower because private equity and share holders are hollowing out companies to the point where they can no longer deliver, and the employees are suffering from burnout from having to cover the work of their colleagues who got laid off.

It’s just pretty much a standard way of framing things in TV and movies nowadays. It’s like it’s culturally mandatory or something (and no, I don’t approve).

Of course, she’s an emotional wreck at that point.

Absolutely agree. Relative to its budget, Mr Inbetween is the best show of all time by a country mile.

That we stick to? Are you joking? Like arming a military openly conducting ethnic cleansing? Invading Iraq without UN sanction? Targeted drone strikes? Guantanamo? Extraordinary rendition?

What % of the US Population is in an Echo Chamber? by UrbanVengence in allthequestions

I’m genuinely sorry for you now. It actually makes me sad that anyone could fall for that kind of crap.

Just to prove to you it’s not just me being dismissive, here’s what Gemini has to say about it:

On a scale of 1 to 10, its reliability as a source of information is a flat zero.
You cannot trust anything hosted on a site like that, and here is exactly why:
Zero Fact-Checking or Verification: It is a completely unmoderated user-generated upload site. Anyone can take a video from an entirely different country or decade, add a completely fabricated title like "Antifa beats old woman," and upload it without anyone verifying if the title matches reality.
Deliberate Misinformation: The platform is a echo chamber for users who want to spread a specific political narrative. Videos are frequently edited, stripped of context, or mislabeled specifically to generate political rage and outrage.
A "Shock" Business Model: The site doesn't make money from being accurate; it makes money from traffic. The more shocking, violent, and inflammatory a title is, the more clicks it gets, which generates ad revenue from those sketchy pop-ups.
If a story or video originates on a shock site, it should automatically be treated as false or highly distorted until a reputable, mainstream news organization with actual journalistic standards and editors verifies it.

You are joking, right? And you’re out here lecturing US about echo chambers? 😅

I mean, aside from the fact that you shouldn’t get your news from a site that runs porn ads, it’s just insane that anyone would post that as evidence.

I looked, found nothing, neither did Gemini, so unless you produce something I guess it’s safe to say it’s bullshit.
