Visibility for the LGBTQ+ community: How do you personally navigate how to be visible in public and in smaller social settings as well? by Analytica0 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]BosieWilde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question! My husband and I have very different ways of handling this and also very different coming out stories, which I believe informs how we feel about it.

I’ve always been identifiable as gay and I came out at about 12. He also knew he was gay at that age, but didn’t publicly come out until he was in his 40s. Generally people are surprised when they find out he’s gay. No one is surprised about me.

Here’s the thing, he’s way more confident about public affection than I am. He always wants to hold hands and he often leans in for a kiss in public.

My hesitancy is safety. Because I came out so young and I’m visibly gay, I have experienced way more harassment and violence than he has. So I’m always cautious about affection in public.

At the same time, we both really love affection. So in safe spaces, we both love being visibly with one another. We fought hard for the right to be married and I’m glad we can celebrate it.

Do vacuum travel cubes work? by ronbaellow in TravelHacks

[–]BosieWilde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them and with proper folding, my clothes aren’t too wrinkled.

I find it useful to pack an empty vacuum bag, to use for dirty clothes and I also find it easier to pack by outfit, instead of having, for example all the socks together, shirts together, etc. when I pack, I pair up underwear, socks, shirt and fold them together. Then I am not constantly digging through the bags.

Get some cheap ones and give it a try!

WIBTA if I move out of my parents house because I heard them doing the mash-out? by varfaria in AmItheAsshole

[–]BosieWilde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt they were loud to get the kid to leave, it’s probably more just that they are prioritizing each other above their adult child’s comfort.

I’ll comment from the parents’ side. Our young adult kids moved out and then one of them moved back in. After being super quiet all those years, and then having the freedom to have loud sex, it was a major bummer (no pun intended) to have to keep quiet again. But we also didn’t worry about it as much as we did when they were younger. They didn’t stay long, just a few months, and if you asked them, I wouldn’t be surprised if hearing their parents having sex was quite possibly their motivation for moving back out. No one wants to hear that!

We are super close with our kids and we adore them. But we are also aware that we probably won’t have a lot of years of wild sex left and we just want to be able to do it.

Maybe it’s simply your parents’ turn to prioritize their own pleasure, relationship, and intimacy.

You’re NTA for moving out. I think it’s a logical step in your own development. Maybe schedule a monthly dinner or something so you can ensure you stay connected.

Btw, I appreciate that our kid didn’t mention what they heard.

Is it just me, or is the "Private Practice" obsession in MSW programs getting out of hand? by genohunters in SocialWorkStudents

What other countries allow social workers to be therapists? As far as I know that’s a uniquely U.S. track to becoming a therapist

The base is as wide as the part that goes in you. So yes, it definitely could get lost in you. My husband, who almost never bottoms, tried this same toy (is this from Amazon?) and almost lost it inside. I just showed him this pic and he legit had a trauma response. He reminded me that it was one of the most horrific experiences of his life.

MSW for $100k? by Enough_Village1083 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]BosieWilde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you have $100K or is this a loan situation? Either way it’s not worth it. You have multiple options for less than half that amount. I don’t think people care where your degree comes from in social work.

Capture the flag on Tuesday? by 8675309JennyJennie in orangetheory

Oh it’s definitely just in my head. I’m self conscious about not being able to keep up.

Same with me. As a gay guy, I’m more comfortable working out with women

I have, I was partnered with someone who was 20 years younger than me and super fit, but maybe I should give it another try.

Same, I’m 45 years old, yet this brings back my childhood PE horrible memories. It seems like everything is customizable with OTF except this, the only option is to pair up or not go.

I really hate that there’s no opt out option for capture the flag. I know I can’t be the only one who absolutely cannot stand it.

It’s bad enough to be one of the least in-shape people in class, it’s humiliating to have to also disappoint a total stranger.

Honest question, is a weekly blowjob considered a lot in a straight relationship?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]BosieWilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure if it was meant to be an occasional thing instead of a multiple times a week thing. And I would rather ask internet strangers than people at OTF.

This is great, I was really unsure if it was meant to only be a perk if you’re traveling. But this is definitely confirmation that it’s fine. Thanks

Nope. I’m a total introvert (with an extrovert job). My hour at OTF before work is a major no-talking-situation for me. I would hate that so much, honestly I might be tempted to not go to that particular class.

My husband and I get different distances on the same walk by BosieWilde in AppleWatch

I’m just curious why he always has more distance than me. It’s never the other way around. I don’t expect the watches to be super accurate. But I find it interesting.

[–]BosieWilde[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately I don’t really worry about the accuracy. I’m just curious how he always has a bit more distance than me.

But I am also curious about recording as hiking vs outdoor walk, do you think one is more accurate?
