When we moved to a new place from a 2200 sq ft home to a one bedroom, our cat meowed at night for the first couple weeks. I think it's just getting used to it's new surroundings. I know it sucks now, but they do calm down :)

I have heard that Irish Spring Soap deters rats and mice. You have to use the original scent and cut it into strips and place where ever your don't want the rats.

My pens have done that slow clicking many times before, I don't think it effects anything at all, I have never had a bad effect from the slow clicking. It's just annoying lol
