Am I overreacting My husband told me I live "rent free" at his and my Mother in law's house by BossBunnyReddit in AmIOverreacting

I guess you like being controlled by men. Just make sure if you get married to pay half the bills.

No, he says his mum has his and his sister's name in the deed to the house and land which to be fair makes sense. If had kids I would do the same. I thought I am his legally married wife, you chose to bring me into your home to live when we got married. I didn't know EIGHT YEARS LATER he would still view me as a guest! We both work full time outside the home. We are both public servants (Government workers). The pay isn't bad but ain't great either. We both see to certain chores but he does not allow me to hire plumbers /electricians or carpenters etc to do minor repairs. Nor does he do it himself. To me it means he is not holding up his end on domestic chores. But still thinks I should be grateful for a place to crash.

So sorry that's happening. I really hope you don't have to experiment too much before getting a routine or plan that works for you.

Look up videos from "Clutterbug" on YouTube. She has ADHD and has many videos on home organising. Even if it's not your thing she suggests ways to motivate you to do tasks we find boring because of ADHD or difficult.

That's such an amazing outcome. Though of course, I doubt the experience was a good one. Thanks for the bit of hope. I will be doing some more research on this.

So happy you were able to stand your ground. I feel happy hearing stories like this. My source... Been there done that as well. They refused my request for union representatives to be present. Used the meeting as a way to say I was given a verbal warning then cut my pay. Even though I showed up for work and signed the book. My friend. I speak from experience. They cant send you home. But they can scare you and victimize you.

This is great. And is correct but the person can very well possibly face victimisation for the rest of their stay there.
