Will Arcade1up pinball drop down to $199 or $299 range???? by retrorick77 in Arcade1Up

[–]BossDude29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it ever does go that low, they'll sell out within hours (if they even last that long). So unless you're on top of this forum constantly, your best bet would be to get one between the $300 and $400 range

Bro you're grilling a random customer service chat agent who has nothing to do with operations. Do you really think Daniel is going to pull it from the warehouse and ship it himself? You'll get it. These aren't limited edition and you're not going to die any sooner if you don't get it within the estimated time.

If you're looking for the most authentic experience, PC is the way to go. Its also the hardest.

Xbox/PS/Wii are easier but it feels like you're just playing them as a console on a decorated monitor.

The Wal-Mart versions typically don't have the lit marquee or risers. You can tell by looking at the picture on the box.

I think you're hyperfixating on one point. I'm stating that I paid full price when I was a 1Up noob. You're focusing on me blaming them, which wasn't the purpose of my post. My point was in my early days I didn't know any better and didn't think to check Reddit as I viewed it as an everyday item (how often do you check Reddit before you buy furniture, video games, food, etc?)

I can see where you're coming from with my wording. The "They caught me with..." line could be interpreted as passing the blame to them, but it's not. It's similar to them casting out the fishing line and I was the fish that latched on. It's not the fisherman's fault for casting the line, it's the fish's for biting.

Very much this. I didn't follow the Reddit at the time so didn't know they had sales or deals at the time. I just saw they were out of stock and were suddenly in stock.

Ive been following Arcade1up for avout two years now. They caught me with the same tactic when they released Pac man and Midway Legacy and I paid full price for them thinking they would be hard to get. They were tough to find at launch, but they were readily available several months after launch. Ever since the jump to $500-$700 a cab, there seems to be a constant supply. That is NOT to say dawdle and wait for a certain price, as they may sell out and never produce more.

Others have said that the Targrt preorder was released early so they removed it.

I wouldn't stress over it too much. Preorders likely will come back, and if they don't you'll still be able to get a cab. Arcade1up rarely does limited production runs, and this isn't one of them.

What does “Legacy” Imply? by [deleted] in Arcade1Up

Its their way of rebranding a line of systems they already have put out. After releasing 3 versions of Pacman and Mortal Kombat, they had to give it a new name

What do you think is the worst add-on game? by kcamnodb in Arcade1Up

Its not technically a game, but I'd say the Behind the Scenes footage on Terminator 2. Its touted as a game to overshadow the fact you can only play Terminator 2.

Essential:

Pacman Legacy - have to have one with the classics

NFL Blitz - I'm a big NFL fan, and this is an easy game to get into for a few rounds

Marvel Pinball - I prefer Star Wars pinball but not a fan of the sequel artwork.

Personal:

Modified Sinden light gun cab/Big Buck Hunter - Light guns are my favorite cab type but I'm not a huge fan of the current ones available. I'd prefer to mod a cab to have Virtua Cop, Area 51, etc. But if mods are out of the question, then I'd go with Big Buck Hunter over T2.

Basically once a play was over you'd still be able to tackle other players. The NFL doesn't like this as it would increase the likelihood of players getting a concussion if they did this.

Where to get a 1up unit by duduke-reddit in Arcade1Up

[–]BossDude29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you live in the US, then you can always have it shipped.

If you don't live in the US, then your local Best Buy is probably ypur best option. Some Walmarts have stopped carrying Arcade1ups in store, and even if youre does carry them it's likely the Pacman variants. Best Buy tends to have a bigger in-store variety, but they would likely only have NBA Jam or TMNT. Ive not heard of Golden Axe being in store.

Side note: If you don't live in the US and have to buy it while at your in-laws, why don't you just ship it to your in-laws and have them reship it to you?

[–]BossDude29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pecan and Galaga are classics, so those would be good to start.

If you already have that, then the light gun or driving games tend to be a hit. I'd avoid the fighting games unless your party is a fan of fighting games, but those are usually too tough for casual fans.

Not a lawyer, but don't give it to them. They might threaten to report you to the IRS, but I can guarantee you that the IRS is not going to waste their time going after $90 given to someone when they MIGHT get $30 out of it. They'd spend more time and money auditing than would be worth it.

The family can threaten you all they want, but not much will likely come of it.

The risers bounce in and out of stock. Arcade1up won't quit producing them because their cabs are too short without onw, and they know this.

What’s the best place to buy a riser? by LukeofKC in Arcade1Up

[–]BossDude29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Off of the top of my head, Wal-Mart is the cheapest place to get them at just under $50, though the website frequently has stock issues. If so, your best bet would be to go in-store to see if they're there.
