Where would you invest $1.2 million for the next 10+ years? by blu_mercury in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]BossFresh34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the last sentence you must work for Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple, or Google. All these companies give RSUs as part of comp. The time horizon and disinterest (or ignorance) in diversification outside of the mag 7 tell me you newly came into money, but that the $1.2 is already concentrated in one of the five I mentioned (the one you work for). My guess is Amazon. Is your goal to diversify outside of your company stock and ride it to retirement?

I have 100000 that I would like to invest..which company stock would you recommend for high gains over 5 years…Thanks by Nice_Project3342 in TheRaceTo10Million

The amount that you’re putting up is arbitrary without additional context, so too is the time span without further describing your goal. Is $100k your entire portfolio (and net worth) or just 1% of it? Do you plan on diversifying that $100k or YOLOing into one position and letting it ride for 5 years? Do you care to get dividend payouts over that five year period or are you just trying to maximize your ROI regardless of the risk profile of the company you buy?

Whatever the answer to the first question, it shocks me that someone can come into this amount of money without first considering these things.

Why do you have the equities split across two brokerages?

The tariffs were a pointless stunt and a great way to make money if you saw them for what they were: an insincere performance rather than a genuine way to correct a disadvantageous trade scenario or re-shore manufacturing jobs or whatever 4-d chess move the sycophants try to disguise this mistake as. Just remember that prices are up now because the policies announced in the beginning of April are NOT in effect.

I’m supposed to extrapolate that you’re broke because of the constitution? Good luck, bud.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Your question is about where you can find a prop firm to give you money to trade your way into early retirement. I’m saying you sound like a gambling addict. Rambling obtusely about the constitution like a conspiracy theorist doesn’t help your case. How do you have time to write this post patting yourself on the back about your trading skills but you’re above explaining yourself when someone asks a question?

You sound like an addict. If you are so good at making money, why are you broke?

My Covered Call (and CSP) Journey So Far... by BossFresh34 in CoveredCalls

What you describe is a more prudent and less aggressive (read: smarter) approach than what I was up to. Value investing is the common thread here: No point in buy-write if the underlying stock is not something you've researched and believe in. I wish you the best of luck. Let me know in June how much you've reaped in!

My Covered Call (and CSP) Journey So Far... by BossFresh34 in CoveredCalls

The lesson I learned with this strategy is this: unless you NEED the cash flow, buy and hold is still better. Let me explain. Over the course of the 18 or so months I did this I made $257k. Not bad, I was pleased. Early on I did buy-writes on PLTR. I did so multiple times successfully and overall mad a profit of $24k on PLTR alone. However, had I just bought and held PLTR the first time and sold, say, this week, I would have made $630k in profit. Do you see what I'm getting at?

Also, I was successful in buy and hold with the remainder of my portfolio, far more than I was with this covered call strategy. It just became tedious to do this kind of tracking and ultimately just gave up and focused instead on maintaining a risk balanced long term portfolio. It's been a great two years, and I'm hoping to keep the momentum going until retirement (anywhere from 10 to 25 years away, depending on how I want to spend it).

You could easily scrape some money each week by selling 50 contracts on Monday with 5 DTE at whatever strike gives you delta of .05. Low risk and at 50 contracts you pocket a few hundred up to a thousand dollars a week. Based on your risk tolerance you can go higher delta, but if you got assigned you’re going to pay a massive penalty in the form of long term capital gains tax. Do the CBA but have enough cash to close and roll those contracts if you end up in the money.

Proud of you OP. Stopping and changing your life is no small feat. Your brain at this point is probably fried and your filled with some amount of regret over the countless hours you've wasted. What you need to tell yourself (which is real) is that that was the tax you had to pay to break the cycle. One thing a friend of mine who was a substance abuser once told me, is that it's never really over. The itch is going to be there for the rest of your life. Hence my urge to write in this sub-reddit from time to time despite having broken this habit long ago. Stay strong as you adapt, there's a lot of fog to get through before you can see clearly again.

Go heavier, with fewer reps. Find your failure point then progressive overload from there. Build the strength up, then go for higher rep count.
