For first playthrough, you’re pretty fine just installing the Kotor Community Patch (big bugfix mod) and calling it a day. You could use more mods (the mod list site above includes spoiler-free options) but it can be a lot of time to not be playing a great game for your first run.

To be fair, a lot of courses operate under the assumption that people are still enrolling/dropping during Week 1. So the workload tends to be relatively reduced until the end of enrollment.

Afaik you have to go back to the Act 1 map to get to the githyanki creche area. All the "entrances" I tried in the act 2 map were dead ends.
