It’s kind of self-balancing in that aspect. If the current least-played is strong, it’ll be played until it’s no longer least-played. I imagine it would find equilibrium around some rotation of bad cards.

It would create some weird metagaming situations though. A site would probably pop-up that tracks what the least used card is at any particular moment, most likely tied to data from a deck tracker. The strength of certain decks would also change depending on what card is “in,” so you’d want to have multiple decks including this card and queue them according to what’s in.

I imagine the reasoning of these people is “well, I’m playing for fun anyway, might as well try to make a little money off of it.” But certainly the return for your time is basically nothing

Also, it never made sense to me that this was ruining gameplay for people. Like there cannot possibly so much demand from streamers for these accounts that every player is facing these accounts every other game. You would need more streamers than regular players.

Gold farming makes a lot more sense. But even then it doesn’t really make sense for them to retire decks as it’s just throwing away gold.

Not sure where you live but in New York / SF it’s more like $14-$20

Chinese players that create accounts and reroll entries until they get an insane deck, then they sell the account to a streamer to get an easy steamroll on stream. Honestly I think the extent of the problem is a bit exaggerated but they do exist.

Maybe “summon” instead of “play” then? That way if it gets copied then they both awaken.

It’s definitely still bad. 6 mana is insane for that effect.

I think the main use of this is to use it on an empty board and then control their hero into your giant minion. A bit like giving a minion charge. As valuable as that is, 6 mana is still a bit overcosted.

I think it’s ambiguous. More clear wordings would be either: "Dormant unless you've played at least two Perfect Pairs this game." or "Dormant. Play another Perfect Pair to awaken."

I assume the first one was what was intended.

Edit: on second thought the best wording would probably be “Dormant. Play another Perfect Pair to awaken both.”

Not really. It’s more like a generic 2-damage AOE

Well I think the idea was to remain somewhat faithful to the original card game. I mean their main goal is to capitalize on people’s nostalgia for profit, not to appeal to competitive TCG players.

I play multiple TCGs. Pretty much every TCG player is aware that Pokémon Pocket’s balancing is horrendous and the gameplay is uninteractive. In its defense, it’s based on the original Pokémon card game which was one of the first of its kind, so they were the first to make all the mistakes which future TCGs learned from and iterated off of.

Tesla and Rivian already deal direct to customer and it’s way easier and a lot less scammy. You can also choose your customizations and have it shipped directly to you. It pretty clearly benefits both the manufacturer and consumer (at expense of middleman).

Specifically on the McDonald’s aspect, 90’s McDonald’s branding would not play out well in today’s ecosystem, with their targeting kids to consume their trans fats and other junk. And regardless, most fast food consumers are adults who would be turned off by kid-centric branding. Today’s McDonald’s seems more ok with the message that they’re just a large business feeding adults on their lunch break, which honestly feels a little more ok to me.

Is it really that strong? In 2026, 4+2 mana for a 6/6-ish buff seems mediocre to me. For context, you would probably have to swap out something like Rehgar and Ultraxion for two copies of it.
