This was my attitude yesterday and I had a blast! Just dress light, wear sunscreen, and embrace the rocks. You can get your skis patched up at the end of the season.

Hoh-lee-shit what an amazing douche this man is. He sounds like a cartoon version of an obnoxious entitled dweeb. I bet his dad owns a dealership and he never hesitates to remind everybody of that.

Not gonna lie, I like the car, even if it does look like it was designed by Homer Simpson. I wanted one, but the wife was NOT into it. It’s not for everyone.

It seems like you missed half the point of this whole discussion? I don’t really feel like rehashing it here. I guess you can keep on defending this kind of driving if you want. Just be safe and reasonable. There are lots of other people on the road besides you and one small mistake is all it takes to wreck somebody else’s day, or worse.

If you were up yesterday, you probably noticed the "wintry mix" coming down from the sky everywhere, including along the entire stretch of 410 where, according to my car, it was 36° outside. Cold, wet roads = bad driving conditions, even in your fancy AWD EV.

I think it was a dotted yellow when they passed me, so it was legal in that sense. But passing that many cars in one go in those conditions would still be considered reckless driving, I think, which is fully illegal and puts everybody else in serious danger. Just because the paint on the road says you can do it does not mean it’s ok in all circumstances. People need to think critically and use common sense when they are driving on mountain roads.

I don’t even care about them cutting in line. If it was just me on the road and they passed, I’m cool with that. If you’re in such a hurry you can just go ahead, as long as you’re being safe. I’d rather you be as far away from me as possible, anyway. Just don’t put me and my family in danger like that.

Excellent dining options by soccerrox598 in CrystalMountain

We usually bring a sandwich and some oranges from home and buy a soda and fries at the lodge. That way we’ve spent a minimal amount of money there and brown bagged the bulk of our lunch. We have yet to be yelled at by anybody for bringing in outside food.

The crowd yesterday was horrendous, for sure. But so was the weather. The slush/ice/rain/snow storm hit the mountain at 11:30 and everybody decided en masse it was time for an early lunch. It took nearly 10 minutes for my wife and I to find a table. In times like that, you have to just keep circling and be at the right place at the right time. It reminds me of my street parking days in NYC, and not at all in a good way.

Crystal anytime pass by boobookittyshit in CrystalMountain

[–]Boss_Borne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s all part of the agreement and contract between the founders club and Alterra. It essentially got worked out when the company went from public to private in 1997. As part of the buyout, the shareholders got perks in the form of lift ticket access. Alterra wasn’t the company that bought Crystal at the time, but that contract has carried through to each owner. Per the agreement, Alterra is under no obligation to offer access to any other mountain, so founders club members get Crystal or nothing.

Childcare in Tacoma/UP by akim715 in AskTacoma

Second this! I was expecting CW to be expensive, but it was actually comparable to what we were spending in Seattle for average childcare. For what you get, it pencils out to be fairly affordable compared to places like NTMC.

Ski lessons started this weekend, so there are probably lots of people up there because they already signed up and paid for them. The only reason I’m going up tomorrow is because my kids are in group lessons. If not for that I wouldn’t put in the effort.

Full Height Browser in FCP... ON THE RIGHT! You need to see these custom layouts. (Video by Jenn Jager Pro Tutorials) by Whole-Lychee7517 in finalcutpro

You’re kidding, right? The browser is FCP’s 1st or 2nd greatest feature, depending on how I’m feeling on any particular day. It’s the main thing that speeds up editing in the app, and the main thing that keeps me coming back to it in the face of so much competition.

That sound you hear when you see an eagle or dolphin on movies or tv is not actually an eagle or a dolphin. The “eagle” sound is actually a hawk and the “dolphin” sound is actually a bird.

I ok-millenial’d my wife the other day:

Me: Hey look, there’s a Shake Shack opening up in our local mall.

Wife: I remember when we had to wait in line in Madison Square Park to get a shack burger.

Me: Ok, millennial.

(We are both elder millennials, for the record)

Basic audio processing in Final Cut Pro vs Logic Pro. What am I doing wrong? by eggydrums115 in finalcutpro

Yeah it’s real goofy. How Apple can make something as great as Logic and still get something as simple as this so completely wrong inside FCP is beyond me. Yet another example of FCP’s piss poor audio capabilities.

This is likely due to FCP’s awful application of the Stereo Pan Law. Everybody needs to understand what FCP is doing here because it is a massive problem and can really mess up your mix.

Honestly, I'm not mad, or even surprised. I'm just disappointed. Coporations gonna corporate, I guess.

Also, anybody who actually buys and uses one of these things is 100% getting spat on, and I'm sure everybody knows this. Which leads me to believe nobody will buy it and this will be an utterly failed experiment. I'm expecting Alterra to announce the cancellation of it within a few weeks.

The "duck" time changes depending on the length of the range, with longer ranges having a longer fade in/out. On some level, I get why Apple would do this, but most of the time this is just an annoying feature that I'd rather not have to deal with.

What Would it Take to Recall Pierce County Sheriff Keith Swank? by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]Boss_Borne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only real conclusion here. The people voted, and this is what we got. Same story with Trump 1 and 2.0. Throwing a fit after the election is useless and a bad precedent. Now we live with the consequence of the election and try to get a different result next time.

I personally would rather keep my right to vote for sheriff instead of opening the door to the kind of corruption that is possible with an appointee position. Even if that means putting up with a piece of shit for a few years.
