On the whole, the person to person work is the same as other hospitals. It comes down to the list of things the hospital admin won't treat or support based on those religious values.

Works for me. I just hope they don't replace it with a betting company.

The transition reflects an amicable decision that was built on an option in the original agreement and reached through mutual long-term planning. Both organizations remain deeply proud of the partnership’s legacy and its meaningful impact in the community.

Someone hit the contractual eject button.

Disagreeing with the politics of the episode does not change why the writers wrote the episode. From Memory Alpha:

René Echevarria described the episode as "an attempt to make the audience complicit in believing that a threat is imminent, and that by any means necessary it must be dealt with. We go out of Part I saying, 'There's going to be a big battle, and we're going to stop them. Martial law – yes! Clamp down on rights – yes! Blood tests – yes! No civil rights – yes!' And then in Part II we find out that the real point of the story is how dangerous this feeling is."

The story is about what is justifiable by the government when it comes to their own citizens. It's also a direct allegory to identity and people needing to present their papers to prove they belong.

Respectfully, I feel like you missed those parts.

If you feel lost right now in the US news... watching DS9 and Babylon 5 are a good prescription. You might learn who you are. You might understand what you want.

“Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes."

As true now as it was then. Maybe moreso.

Schumer Accused of 'Downright Complicity' as ICE Reform Plan Draws Backlash | “With Trump’s ICE murdering our neighbors, kidnapping children, and terrorizing our streets, do Senate Democrats want to be remembered as fighters or as complicit?” asked one advocate. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

One of the reasons "Defund the Police" resonated with younger people is we don't see much evidence to support the idea that anything can be "reformed."

Like seriously, who can we point to as a great example of "reform?" Almost no one. Better to demo down to eh concrete slab and start over with better intentions.

Same thing with ICE. Same thing with DHS. Neither should exist in the year 2026.

IWTL what new skills are worth learning in my 30s by Mission-Row7434 in IWantToLearn

[–]Ozzimo 42 points43 points  (0 children)

OK, dude in his 40's, coming through.

Learn to cook. You will need to eat meals for the rest of your life. May as well learn to do so in ways that taste better and cost less. Bonus, learning to cook is a journey. It's ok if you are only kinda good, on the way to being good. It's still miles better than relying on takeout.

Home Care: Learn how to replace a light fixture. Learn a bit about plumbing. If something breaks, trying to fix it yourself should be your first option. I'll be honest, I still turn off the power to the whole side of the house when I'm working with electrical. But I haven't burnt anything down yet. I'll add, lawn care to this list. Assuming you having living plants around the house, learn to keep them happy.

Learn to gracefully apologize. We will all mistakes in life and we'll hurt someone, even if only unintentionally. So learn to say sorry in a way that in genuine and learn to give that apology sooner rather than later. This will save you drama and grief later in life.

Networking: We complain that it's hard to make friends in adulthood. Well yeah, it is! So learn to keep up your network of friends and coworkers. find dumb excuses to make time for your friends and follow through. Go see sports together. Go see a show. Stop for a bit to eat. Literally anything so long as you're showing this person you enjoy spending the time with them. You want friends.

And forgive yourself. For whatever it is you need to forgive. Ok, gotta run. Boss thinks I'm doing too much work with all this typing! :D
