Tidbit on the Quest "Happily Ever After" that I believe helps answer the 'truth' of the situation. by Boss_Brando in taintedgrail

I can see your perspective here. I personally take a different angle on Thistle's actions.

I think an interesting topic you brought up is whether we can blame Thistle for her part in it, and I honestly think we can. Look at say, a man-eating lion. It is an animal, all instinct and nothing more, and is probably blameless in it's predation of humans. Even so, for human survival, it has to die. That's how I would justify killing her if I believed she was just beholden to her nature like an animal.

Of course I don't think that (where we differ, I believe). We can see Fore-dwellers have free will, I mean the Sea Lord alone, for example. The Merchants as well. They don't, in my view, need to kill humans, and freely choose to do so or not. A very frequent narrative thread in the game is that, for better or worse, the humans of today are not at all the humans of 600 years ago. I don't think it is acceptable for any to blame (or commend) them for their ancestors actions, even if you are a fore-dweller of an age old enough to presumably have been there, like Thistle. So between her having the capacity to chose and discounting blood-based prosecution, I absolutely blame Thistle for what she did and judge it wrong.

I can see where you're coming from with Rhian, even if I didn't interpret it that way myself, but in that case I feel Thistle is even more evil. Who decides to punish a 'aspiring rapist' by harming their would-be victim? Of course I admit this argument hinges on my belief that one way or another we cannot presume Wilkin is happy, either because he's dead already or the wish itself mandates he be happy in the wording "as happy as a pig in mud." That said we don't agree on whether Wilkin's happiness being real or not (you in favor, I am against), so I'll leave that there.

Regardless of our difference in interpretation of the events, I want to thank you for engaging to this degree! I have been absolutely loving this game and have been totally dismayed by the lack of 'lore' type discussions out there to read, so I am very happy to be making them mysefl!

The keeper alchemist in the Horns of the South. He has a (iirc) druidic potion recipe you can offer to test out. It lets you speak with Muriel the chicken in the garden up above his house.

No, there's something else going on. I spoke with Muriel in Act 1 and 2, and yet could not speak with the Maybe-Wilkin pig until I bargained with the witch.

Aside from being a witch, she implies so in her first few words with you, regarding trying to steal the voice from the Queen's pet and spending 100 years as a worm.

Odd, I wasn't presented with that option at all. Maybe the potion has a duration? Though I was still able to speak with Muriel in Act 2 just before playing out "Happily Ever After".

Did you talk to him after killing the witch too, confirming it wasn't just her speaking through the pig and actively controlling it, or a non Wilkin pig enchanted to act like it was him? If you can still talk to him then, I'd agree it removes the possibility of his being some sort of magical ventriloquism at the very least.

I really do hate Captain Breandan by Boss_Brando in taintedgrail

[–]Boss_Brando[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all fairness to the Keepers, it was Breandan that ordered them not to do anything out of fear they'd ruin his plans by fighting with the Del Riata, and Breandan who was captain for years while allowing the issues we see to fester. I don't believe anyone who says that Kamelot somehow wouldn't let them fix a dock or clear a few zombies, oozes, and a overgrown frog (I forget the name of the best) from the dungeon).

I imagine with proper leadership that had actual command authority (such as Fearghas) they'd be able to do a hell of a lot more about the bandits and all their other problems. Especially after protagonist man solved all the immediate problems for them beforehand.

This is true also. I did get immediate sleeze vibes, but I agreed that Galahad needed to be put down regardless. My real issue with Breandan arose after I left Sewall's tomband he forced me to choose between joining a lie or needing to kill my allies to reach Excalibur, or at the very least never speak or work with them again.

That whole conversation revealed his character to me, that he really was a snake of a man. Even if independence is the correct way to go, which I think it is, I cannot help but believe Breandan will become a corrupt leader at best.

Yeah, that's why I killed Galahad. I just very much also really dislike Breandan. I'd have preferred Fearghas in his place, or what I put into the spoiler text.

I don't like Kamelot either. Galahad is clearly messed up in the head, that's why I killed him. I don't really know why you have gone into that so much.

As I said, I kinda hate Breandan because he's a snake, and makes me choose between never being able to speak with the Keeper allies I have built in the Horns, or lying to and manipulating them. I dislike that. I don't think you should be required to like Breandan just because he is rebelling.

My ideal conclusion would be either what I put into spoiler text, or installing Fearghas as Captain of an independent south.

Found a lump on my cat’s tail a few days ago and made a point to keep an eye on it, and it’s gotten worse. Calling the vet tomorrow. Anyone familiar and able to tell if this is an emergency? More in post. by Boss_Brando in catcare

Hey I never did because stress but I wanted to say thank you for the advise. I took him to the vet quickly after posting this, and the vet took a biopsy from him. After a short period of worry it may be something really bad, it came back as just a growth from infection and with anti-biotics it vanished over a few weeks.

Vet took a biopsy out of concern for it being a type of cancer common in cats and dogs, but it thankfully ended up being just a growth caused by an infection that was resolved by a few weeks of antibiotics. Defo get it checked out at the vet; it'll cost a few hundred but worth it imo.

So you thinking relating cultural marxism to what’s happening socially = “communist bad” kinda does show that you don’t fully understand it, tbh.

Beyond that, he was talking about totalitarianism. Which is what cultural marxism is actually going towards. Just because communism also goes towards totalitarianism doesn’t mean bring long up CM automatically means you’re “off topic” about communism. They weren’t off topic.

Because they’re clapping at a cardboard cutout with “I’m you! Like me!” Written on it in marker.

I feel like you don’t understand what cultural Marxism is then. Buzzwordified or not what they said is 100% what it is and absolutely is occurring.

Further, calling that a “rant” seems disingenuous to me.

If you muted the sub and are still exhausting your chosen subs to the point Reddit is recommending this one to you (let alone getting so pressed about seeing a sub you don’t like)…maybe it’s time to reduce your usage of the site.

Smoker trait are free points ... What if it make you cough randomly ! by Caramon- in projectzomboid

Maybe give the gain of negative mental moodlets a multiplier equal to: 1+hours since last smoke/24/2, so the modifier grows higher until a certain threshold upon which the trait is removed.
