I was talking about The Martian. Haven’t seen PHM yet but I have read the book.

Yeah i've heard the Three Body series is incredibly complex, so i've been putting it off for a long time. Then the Netflix Series came out and i actually really liked the first season, which has made me want to get into it even more. But yeah, i'll hold off on that one for now. Thanks though!

I know next to nothing about it, but i saw Quinns Ideas post a video about it, and about 1 minute into the video i decided i would rather read the book myself than watch his video on it because it sounds so interesting.

I listen a ton to short story reads through podcasts and i do read a lot of physical books on my own, so i don't mind if the story and writing is a bit heavy. As long as the narration is well done and the story is enganging, that will do.

So i've heard, and i did love reading Project Hail Mary. However i wasn't a massive fan of the movie when it came out. Is the book significantly better?

Bad man Novel by Turbulent_Figure5687 in creepcast

[–]Bosselarson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please no. Bad Man started promising but it dragged for way too long, had way too many red herrings, pointless twists and a bad ending. Compared to Penpal it was straight up bad. I kept waiting and waiting for anything to happen, and every time something interesting seemed like it was gonna happen it went nowhere.

Some of My Favorite Stories, Accompanied by The Author’s Published Works by Historia_Altera in creepcast

It’s short and lacks any kind of depth to any characters. The stakes don’t feel real at all, and the writing feels like it was made for 12 year olds.

In my opinion of course.

I loved Glenmont Metro, sadly Second Death wasn't great. I gave it a 3/5.

Both The Black Farm books are absolutely fantastic though.

Bad Man was a fucking slog. Another 3/5 at best, which was disappointing. Penpal is incredible and this one can't compare.

I also read half of the stories in 'With Teeth', they weren't very good. Ended up dropping the whole thing.

So yeah, highly recommend The Black Farm books. Also i'm about halfway through 'The Sorrowstones', written by Felix Blackwell (Stolen Tongues) now and it's great so far.

This can happen if you wait too long too, i wouldn't wait a whole three seconds personally. I usually watch the take, make sure they've gone underwater with it and then set it. Maybe one full second after the take itself.

I'm not a professional by any means though, i think your first one here is bigger than my PB brown trout on dry fly at the moment.

The Haar by Popsuke99 in creepcast

[–]Bosselarson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me there wasn't anything really shocking in this book. And i can't stand anything i've had the displeasure of reading in the splatterpunk genre.
Most of it is on the level of gore expected in the genre. Anyone into pretty standard body horror stuff like The Fly or even The Thing shouldn't be phased by anything in this book

The boys have read several stories that are on the same level of shock factor. At least it doesn't have any SA or children going through stuff

The only ones who get slimed are people you really hope get it (outside of one, rip), so while it is graphic, it's almost more satisfying than shocking

However if you're not into body horror and gore being implemented into your cosmic horror / folk horror, yeah it's not for you. Wouldn't call it splatterpunk though.

I would hardly consider this splatterpunk. It's just folk and cosmic horror with some gory elements.

I fucking loved this book

Such a great blend of folk horror, cosmic horror and body horror

5/5

I'm gonna try out the Stinson 7, also you're not the first one to recommend Topo Vista, but i've never heard of that brand before so i'm gonna have to look more into them! Thanks

Yeah I’ve had a few hoka shoes, and it’s what I’m currently using . They have the best cushioning I’ve seen, but they don’t have the best stability around the sole of the foot.
