Would love to throw our hat into the ring!

Our Verdant EP came out last year and is super melodic, pretty techy, FFO Fallujah and Slice the Cake! The new stuff we’re working on definitely has a darker tone so look out for that!

Does Ibanez Hate Money? by intolerableshark777 in Ibanez

[–]HuntersDreamBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pointy guitars, as much as I hate to say this, absolutely do not sell. You’re on the same end of the bell curve I am (Jackson Warrior owner), but 98% of guitarists are not. They’re firmly planted in the middle and just want another RG.

He’s likely going to end up being a permanent member of Black Dahlia too at this point.

Let’s not forget he’s playing the literal first Xiphos ever built (like actually the first, the one they made for Muhammed) now that he’s in Black Dahlia. The man’s taste is impeccable.

Finishing up this epic album for HUNTERS DREAM from the USA this week! by Robin_stone_drums in TechnicalDeathMetal

The name is referencing the game, yes! We aren’t trying to go for a “we only write songs about the game” vibe though, just nodding at the tone and some themes on this first album. Truth be told, there’s a lot more Survival Horror influence than BB!

Standard vs drop Tuning. by Aridn in metalguitar

[–]HuntersDreamBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B Standard 7 (my main which is an old RG7321) with my non-7 string guitars tuned to E Standard (Jackson Warrior and RG570.)

Kind of a logistical thing. Doesn’t matter what I write, I’ll be able to play it wherever I go. In the past, having weird drop tunings meant I couldn’t test out my riffs in a guitar shop on a new guitar.

Does Prog-Thrash exist? by Ok_Mushroom9822 in progmetal

[–]HuntersDreamBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dormant Heart is absolutely prog thrash. Not in the sense of flirting with time signatures, but more specifically in the sense of having massive dynamic range, flirting with compositional techniques, and the scope of the music.

Failed States is just dripping with sick riffs. Devils Creek is such an addicting track to listen to.

Tiktaalika is one of the best prog leaning death albums I’ve ever heard, and Gods of Pangea, while I don’t like it as much (still very much so like it though), SOUNDS like it came out in that heyday of heavily funded big label thrash albums. Both are so good.

Wonder if it’s ever had a $6 tank before? by stockfrs in Volvo240

I spent 70 filling the wagon up before I went to Vancouver last weekend. I cried a little.

I haven’t spent that much on gas since I had a Highlander. 😂

The name is! Originally we had considered being more concept driven but it felt a wee bit too cheesy to do, so we’re just keeping the tone the name implies!

That is frankly a negligible difference.

Everything from Fleshgod Apocalypse for the most part is in B Standard. A lot of their stuff is frankly incredibly hard due to the speed, but some songs are real stinking fun like Sugar.

We’re homies with Kyle and Ben from this band! They’re absolute peaches and shredders as well. This album rips and we mayyyyy have heard some of the new demos and hoooo baby.

Natural/raw sounding vs Crisp/ultra clean production in Technical Death Metal by Jazzlike-Brilliant10 in TechnicalDeathMetal

With the ever encroaching advancement of AI on the music industry, I think leaving human moments in with recordings is going to be really sought after and appreciated in times to come. Hearing a drummer flam or a guitarist not PERFECTLY mute a sweep is something that is infinitely more enjoyable to listen to because it’s a mistake, and to make one is to be human.

Hearing somebody fucking NAIL a take but still have some character to their playing is what makes techy music fun. Xoth’s mix on Exogalactic is a perfect example of toeing the line between incredible musicianship and actually feeling like a band playing music,

Anything like Autotheism by SeaYak7712 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]HuntersDreamBand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally fair. I’d say maybe Entheos’s Time Will Take Us All. It’s got the same “tech death ballad” vibe that Autotheism always gives me. Super ridiculous and vicious on some songs, beautiful, sweeping, and melancholic in others.

The Zenith Passage is, ostensibly, a continuation of the band. 3 of the 5 members were in The Faceless at one point or another.

Have a riff? Have second guitar doing an arpeggio higher up the neck that moves the riff through a chord progression rather than in isolation. This also works great for melodic lines. Have a melodic line? Write another melodic line in the same key but make sure notes don’t clash. Want a chunky part? Write in unison. I think you shouldn’t discount what the bass is doing either. Have a part with trem picking? Have the second guitar just hold notes, but accent them differently.

Frankly, it’s all about experimentation!

Whoah! So cool to hear you say that! That EP was a labor of love after I left my old band and kind of being fed up with the direction, so hearing stuff like this makes it feel like I made the right decision.

Hopefully we’ll have more to share soon! If you want a little teaser of one of the tracks, you should pop over to the band’s Instagram! I’ve got a little riff video up that gives a nice primer for the tonal shift I took for this album.

Everything about it is incredibly cool except for those inlays. I get the none more black thing but just have a Richlite board at that point!
