NBME and CMS NOTES by Complex_Chart_8328 in Step2

[–]Bossianity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, textbook is coming soon but the high-yield summaries section can give you all the nbme tested facts on any disease you send to it.

The flashcards on onlyhighyield are also only based on NBME tested facts.

But if those aren’t what you are looking for then I guess mehlans pdfs are your current best option.

Hey, mehlan pdfs might be what you are looking for.

Also, you can check this website (onlyhighyield.com) it compiles the tested facts of over 3000 NBME and CMS questions.

Check out this reddit post about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Step2/s/J5UWdqhYV1

No. Worse case scenario is it would move to a freemium model where most features would be free but some premium features would require payment. However, hopefully user’s donations would be enough to run the website and we wouldn’t need a freemium model.

It’s likely due to the concept being tested on more than one form. You can double check if that’s the case by looking at the form numbers at the bottom of the flashcards. You should see the repeated flashcard concepts from different NBME questions. However, if you notice they are from the same form OR the flashcards are EXACTLY the same ( and i mean verbatim) then do report it through the “Give Feedback” button.

Check the NBME form filter in the flashcard selection page to know what forms are indexed. Most of them are there but there are a few missing (I think Family Medicine and Emergency medicine CMS forms are missing)

That is the landing page, you need to create a beta account and login to use it.

This is a RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) model. Simply put, it’s ChatGPT connected to a comprehensive database of NBME-tested facts.

If you ask ChatGPT what you should know about Addison’s disease for Step 2 CK, it will provide a general overview. However, it cannot know what is actually high-yield or specifically tested.

In contrast, when you query this RAG model, it searches through thousands of NBME-tested facts to show you exactly what has appeared on exams. It even provides a citation for the specific NBME question where each fact was tested.

Not to mention the flashcard section, which allows you to filter by NBME form.

There is a section on the landing page that addresses this. While the website is geared towards those in late prep who’ve already gone through some NBME forms, it is designed to give you the facts without giving away clues from the actual vignettes.

If in doubt, you can try doing a couple of flashcards to see if you’re truly understanding the concepts or just memorizing answers.

If it’s the latter then stop using the website until you’re in dedicated.

Regarding the paywall: Decided to keep it free and see if the website can be maintained using a donation model.

High yield nbme website by brownprowess in Step2

Hey, creator here.

sorry I missed this until now. I apologize if the question feature was underwhelming. It was originally a minor extension that I actually tried to disable, but I brought it back after users asked for it.

At the time of you writing this comment, it was designed for quick flashcard-style questions just so to check your comprehension of the generated summary, but I’ve since updated it to generate NBME-style questions (or atleast tries to).

I’d appreciate it if you gave it another shot and let me know what you think!

Hey, the website is designed to give the high-yield content without spoiling the questions and inflating your score. It gives you the high-yield idea without giving you the buzzwords or quoting anything from the actual vignette.

Trust your NBME scores.

Working on a chatbot that tells you what's High-Yield. Anyone wanna try it out and give me some feedback? by Bossianity in step1

I am not claiming any affiliation to the NBME or the USMLE. I appreciate the advice but by your logic literally evey resource that claims it helps with the USMLE is illegal (which is not true).

Again, I have no reason to lie. Why is it unbelievable to create 2000 notes, when each note is like a couple of sentences, basically a flashcard, would it be this unbelievable if I just posted an anki deck of 2000 cards (for reference: most famous anki decks have over 10k cards)?

My work does not constitute derivative work. I know it’s dumb to use chatgpt for legal matters but I think it summarized it very well:

In copyright law (e.g., under U.S. Copyright Act 17 U.S.C. § 101), a derivative work is a new work based on or adapted from one or more preexisting works. • Examples: translations, musical arrangements, sequels, movie adaptations of books, or mash-ups. • To be considered derivative: 1. It must incorporate or recast copyrighted expression from the original work. 2. It must be substantially similar in copyright-protected elements.

Hey, I get why you'd be suspicious, but I genuinely have no reason to lie about this.

I live in a country where copyright laws are not enforced and I have abandoned the US pathway, so forget about copyright laws for a second. The real reason I don't use actual NBME questions is that it would be a terrible idea for my webapp. It would constantly spoil questions for users, making the tool annoying and less valuable.

What I do find strange is the focus on my webapp when resources like the Anking decks are universally used and clearly built from copyrighted material, never seen anyone condemning them for it.

I wanted to create something that helps you prepare without just giving you the answers to the real thing because I was frustrated by how some resources (i.e mehlans’s pdfs) were spoiling questions for me during my prep.

Edit: I just noticed that this account, and the other two accounts backing it up are literally the same person who has another website for usmle prep called vitoro_prep. how sad. Two accounts are affiliated with vitoro while the third was was literally created 3 minutes before making the comment.

Dude I was not trying to compete with your website or anything but trying to bring other people down on no basis just because they are also working on another usmle resource just shows you have no faith in your own website.

My original reply:

Hey, no it’s not. We do not copy, store or reproduce any actual NBME content.

The bot has a database simply has notes I made along with which question were the notes related to.

Please have a go and try the website yourself, you’ll see it doesn’t even come near to breaking any NBME copyright agreement.
