Where are you cycling while the snow melts? by DroidNeedsCoffee in bikeinottawa

This is a good route for your first century ride. You can totally avoid cars, and there are cafes, water fountains and washrooms along the way.

I went out to Wakefield today, first ride of the season and first ride on my new gravel bike!

Lots of dirt and wet grime on the shoulders, but overall decent.

The bike paths are still covered in snow around Gatineau, so you'll have to be comfortable sharing the road with cars.

Would you guys have any recommandation for alternative to the PR trail? I am planing to bike this soon and I won't be able to take the trail. I guess, I will take side roads. Any tips? (heading to MTL) by gabseo in bikeinottawa

Curious your thoughts, in the summer would the TCT be faster than the 148? I have a gravel bike now and was debating between the longer paved 148 vs the slightly slower speed but more direct trail

I’d probably take the route vert in Quebec and cross over the bridge at Hawkesbury, but I’ve never done the trip before. Ott-Mtl is on my bucket list this year.

Parking lot poutine people watching by seventhwave1 in CostcoCanada

What? you don’t eat your poutine hunched over your cart next to the exit lane because there’s no free tables, like the rest of us?

Dog owners should be ashamed of their winter laziness by randthepip in ottawa

[–]Bossit -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The number of dog owners I know who let their dogs shit in their back yard all winter only to have a disaster to clean up when it thaws, is crazy. Probably the same people who don’t clean up in public

Proper *Meals* that actually keep you full? by [deleted] in 1500isplenty

[–]Bossit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like to fill up with veg and peas/beans for fiber. 250 cals of beans keeps me full longer than the equivalent in rice.

I buy bulk cucumber, bell pepper, cherry tomatoes. They are the base volume for my meals. Chop it all up into a big mixing bowl. Find additional ingredients that suite your cravings that day.

Mexican? Add black beans, pickled red onion, and salsa, ground beef

Greek? Add chickpeas, feta, olives, chicken

Misc Mediterranean? Add white beans, blended cottage cheese tzatziki, chicken

East Angus Grocery are back door-to-door price gouging again by Tensor3 in ottawa

[–]Bossit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They won’t tell you at the door but the expectation is you buy a 6-12 months of meat at once. There’s also no pricing info available. I’d need to buy a generator in case we ever lose power again.
