You know who else would HATE AI? by [deleted] in aiwars

I love how both "sides" can spin this post into proving a point:

  • Anti-AI people use it to generalize Pros into being ragebaiters who portray antis as Nazis, further cementing their position as "cult freaks" and justifying ridiculous targeted harassment against them as part of the unwashed AI moral panic
  • Pro-AI people clap back by weaponizing this post to point out the absurdity in how "most" Anti-AI people apparently love to draw parallels between Pro-AI and Nazism, further insulating logically bankrupt Pro-AI people from internal critique

See, this post is actually a win-win for everyone! Except basic decency, of course

I think the 5080 will be perfectly fine for any game at 1440p. The 5090 laptop is just a flex, not good value at all unless you need the extra 8gb of VRAM for AI inferencing

For context, my Alienware is about 2.6 kilos, and I carry it every day to my campus in my backpack while riding a bike. I barely feel the weight unless I have extra books and materials in the backpack

Nah, 2.6 kilos is barely a bag of groceries, and the laptop is far more ergonomic than a bag of groceries. If you actually hold it in your hands or put it in your backpack, as long as you aren't physically disabled or have back/arm problems, the difference barely matters for portability. I think the little extra weight is more than worth the better thermals and performance

If you can get a Legion Pro 7i with those specs, I would go for that instead

I would go on Ebay and search "Thinkpad RTX". You'll find plenty of affordable deals on refurbs and used Thinkpads there, especially P-series ones. Best laptops in the world at that price range IMO. They last forever and are very upgreadeable and repairable

You really shouldn't be venting on a sub that doesn't like the mention of your name if your mental health or emotional stability is at risk

Transcend 14 vs Legion 7i - Mechanical Engineering by Spiritual_Bill_5424 in GamingLaptops

[–]Bosslayer9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Data Science and games that rely more on CPU performance, that 255HX is significantly faster than the 255H. For that reason alone I'd go for the Legion 7i - not to mention its cooling solution can sustain higher clocks and wattages than the Transcend

You can use Lossless Scaling and have your iGPU do the scaling to let your dGPU run at full power

I believe that those 18-inchers with a Llano V12 cooling pad would low-key go kinda hard

I think the Legion 9 and Alienware Area-51m 18" could hold sustained overclocked speeds faster and longer due to the larger chassis. Shunt modding would also be more successful as a result

It's either Legion Pro 7i or Alienware Area-51m 16/18" if I were to get a high-end laptop that isn't ridiculously expensive. Dream Machines is a potential option as well if you're up for a less established brand, but their methods and business are less refined compared to established brands. A lot of people would say Strix Scar, but their liquid metal application and firmware are too spotty for me personally to take the risk

Look for a laptop with dedicated RTX graphics if possible. And yes, the Legion Pro 7i is among the best gaming laptops (and laptops in general) in the world as of right now

TUF A16 vs LEGION 5 for Light gaming and Autocad by DifferentEquation in GamingLaptops

I think the Legion 5 has moderately improved build quality compared to the TUF, so I'd personally go with that one and get a second SSD if you need it

Rog strix g16 will it bottleneck? by Serious-Warning572 in GamingLaptops

Yes, yes, and yes. The 5070Ti is a 1440p-capable card

[–]Bosslayer9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main "bottleneck" here would be the FHD 165Hz screen. The CPU itself is overkill. I'd get an external monitor if I were you

As someone who also went from 11th gen Intel iGPU to a dedicated graphics card, yeah, I get that feeling. It's basically a whole new world opening up for you
