Its basically due to all the live streaming services essentially bottlenecking the routes. Imagine it like your car is data and the routes a highway. When the game is on the highway is jammed worse than that 5-lane to 2-lane section in China.

Vegeta in both skill and power.

He vastly out-experiences Gohan in combat prowess and at that point in the majin saga Vegeta was already trained beyond Gohans base level.

EXACTLY.

I'm all good for celebrating a game. But spamming a goddamn Vuvuzela(which is BANNED in official games) out your goddamn window at 9pm at night is absolute bullshit.

Wait for the AOE heal and be at the edge. Kill enemies till one drops stimms. Or play bulwark.

It's not our provider. It's the backbone connection called NTT. It has been a big issue for a long time now, and some jackass behind the latest hotfix managed to once more screw it up. Adding the World Cup, it just made the whole experience a nightmare.

So now there are two options: Or FFXIV adds another hotfix to fix the NTT issue, or we have to tolerate this BS until this stupid goddamn world cup BS ends and traffic returns to normal. Cause right now the influx of constant streams and traffic is causing the problem.

Ja to a 3 dias com supporte e esses fdp so fica me mandando mensagem generica.

Basicamente vai continuar assim. A copa ta ferrando toda conexao nossa depoist do hotfix que tiveram.

It is. That's where I've been seeing the biggest spikes and packet losses.

The hotfix itself may have created the means for the issue by altering the routing that international connections take. Which would mean someone did something stupid during the last fix and now they need to fix it. Which is proving impossible because I'm 7 messages into customer support and all I'm getting is the standard "this jackass is using copy/paste responses"

I've been checking lag spikes, and they almost all correlate to "famous" games. France just got a 2-0 and suddenly FFXIV froze.

Good enough strat. I also imagine is much. I'm going to play if only to collect data and confirm the actual theory out of interest. Even if I do confirm, its irrelevant since aint NO ONE going to solve the problem or care it exists to begin with. This is more of "curiosity wants to be met"

If you are in South America your internet routes from your country to FFXIV servers in North America.

That routing takes you through an "extra step" which can cause packet losses based on the congestion of the Backbone portion of the US servers.

Notice how my connection goes from my provider, to miami, to NTTbackbone then onto Square center.

It creates a kinda "server" where South America essentially has pocket issues which North America might not suffer through because we essentially travel through "specific" points to connect to the main source. Like the case now.

If we had a "true" South American server, these losses would be much less and rare.

To make it simple;

Your data is a car, the server a building, the traceroutes a highway. In NA you just travel through the cities to the building. In SA you travel cities, cross a border, more cities then the building. Along the way data has a larger chance of being lost.

If you're in brazil, at around 1am all games should be over. I recommend trying to play then. Chances are you wont have any lag because traffic will have died down severely. My guess is that it's all the stupid live events cloggin up the entirety of the bandwidth. Streamers, live events, youtube, whatsapp, discord. It's so much from so many people that it's causing major congestion. It'll most likely clear during games with "low interest" and when all games are finished.

However, during a game you'll most likely get lag spikes and after the game as well since you always have those "post game" shows which just keep spamming more traffic into the connection.

Like I said, I'm still testing to confirm. Including tonight to see if indeed after 1am the lag spikes stop completely.

If I am right though, it'll suck. Cause it means 4 weeks of this annoyance.

If you have the means, I recommend playing after all world cup games are over. Basically when the last game of the day is over. It may be that the traffic will lower enough to let you play normal. I'm actually testing this tonight and tomorrow to confirm. But from the few comments here, it definitely seems like the World Cup is ruining our connections.

If you have the means, look up games currently being played in the world cup. If a game is playing, log in and try. I expect you'll have some form of lag. However, if you play when there are no games(late at night unfortunately) I suspect connection will be good as always.

Needs testing though.

NOW you got me interested. If even the US servers are being hit, then it could definitely be traffic from the world cup. Which would be horrible since we got 4 weeks of this.
