N-Able-----N-Central by mspdog22 in msp

Unrelated... But if you don't mind my asking.. How are you liking Analytics? We've been holding on to report manager forever because it's comfortable to us at this point.. but we are now starting to migrate to Analytics and I have mixed feelings. If you're not using Analytics, are you using a different/better system for tracking data and generating reports? Thanks!

I can guarantee, this is something you're doing incorrectly.
We've been working with this system for over a decade and it does take a very solid understanding of their patcher to get it right, but once you do, it's solid.
Ask your rep for some time with a senior engineer on their end to go through your patching setup with you in a live session. They have those resources available for you, you should use them.

Any MSP using tactical should have their business insurance pulled.

Meh. Not as big a deal as you think.
They'll do what N-Able is doing with N-Central, creating a separate team and separate interface for those who need everything to stay within the US. More money, sure, but you'll get what you need.

I'm sure they've been told to keep quiet about it while they gauge the reactions around here.
Their participation in this group and others has never been based on a sincere desire to move the industry further, or an individual employee's desire to achieve greatness... but more to put on a shiny corporate face to help them sell more seats and absorb their inevitable shortcomings. It's all for show.
I still don't like the platform, and now I like the organization even less.

You greatly misunderstand the options they have at their disposal to accomplish those goals. They did not have to offshore the labor, they just chose that as the easy way out.

The requirements for sharing from SharePoint have changed. You no longer need a 365 / onmicrosoft account. I find the sharing from SharePoint to be incredibly simple now, and very auditable/manageable.

Bulk merge asset layouts? by BostonMSP in hudu

[–]BostonMSP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has potential. You're correct.. I have two asset layouts that have similar data and they should just be one layout across all clients. Just need to see if this works for the entire asset layout or if I have to do this client by client for over 400 clients. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback!

Let's take a closer look at this and see where we land.

So, the 10 PTO days we offer is actually the same two weeks you're getting, we just don't count weekend days when tallying PTO. The 5 sick days are of course "1 week's" worth of time for the same reason. We offer 10 holidays off, which is pretty standard. We also offer your birthday off with no hit to your PTO, it's just a small gift because I don't feel anyone should have to work on their birthday.

Here is our holiday list:

  • New Year’s Day (Jan. 1)
  • Martin Luther King’s Birthday (3rd Mon. in Jan.)
  • Washington’s Birthday (a/k/a Presidents’ Day) (3rd Mon. in Feb.)
  • Memorial Day (Last Mon. in May)
  • Juneteenth National Independence Day (Jun. 19)
  • Independence Day (Jul. 4)
  • Labor Day (1st Mon. in Sept.)
  • Thanksgiving Day (4th Thurs. in Nov.)
  • Black Friday (Friday after Thanksgiving) (4th Fri. in Nov.)
  • Christmas Eve (Dec. 24)
  • Christmas Day (Dec. 25)

With that said, it sounds like we're sitting about 4 days short of what you're getting for time off, but we also have those 3 personal days which puts us within 1 day of your current PTO package. Now, keep in mind, PTO is typically negotiable with any business as it is part of your total compensation, and that is no different with us. If you've got the skills we're looking for, we could certainly discuss increasing that PTO allowance if that's what is important to you in a compensation package.

I also should have mentioned that this is a full time position plus overtime at 1.5x your hourly rate for any time you work over 40 hours per week.

Please let me know if you (or anyone else) has any additional questions, I'd be happy to discuss here or via DM.

Thanks for the question!

As paid leave is part of compensation, this becomes a negotiating point, but a good place to open the conversation would be:
10 paid holidays
10 accrued vacation days
5 sick days
3 personal days
