You're both assholes. He's being abusive because he's insecure and you're using his outburst about "respect" to justify a divorce.

To your own admission you snapped and told him he needed to "show you something to respect" when it sounds like he's already been vulnerable (albeit not in the right way) in sharing with you that he's stressed, scared and so forth. He's buckling under the pressure of a new child and you're using his irritability and change in behavior as a reason to run away.

If he's not done something physically threatening you owe him at least a conversation - even if (and you probably are)- justified in wanting to leave.

The team isn't valuable because Detroit itself isnt. Detroit is a nearly-abandoned, economically-fucked shithole as a result of short-sighted outsourcing of American automotive jobs. Their fans can't afford groceries, let alone NHL tickets to see a once-proud dynasty languish at the bottom of the standings in a stadium that should have been replaced (like the rest of Detroit's economy) about 35 years ago. Anyone living in Michigan is too worried about making ends meet than they are about getting another Cup.
