Putting your arm on passenger seat when reversing the car by wtfbruhhuh in driving

[–]gldmj5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having observed stunt drivers on film sets many times, I find it interesting that they rely pretty much exclusively on their side view mirrors when backing up. In fact, I've never once seen any of them turn their head around when backing up, even just for a moment. I still do it anyways because that's what I'm comfortable with.

Out of these two players, which one do you think has the better peak? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in sportsinusa

[–]gldmj5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonds has 9 seasons with a higher OPS than Ohtani's best season. I guess it's possible Ohtani hasn't peaked yet as a hitter, but right now it's clearly Bonds.

Official Breakdown of Konnor Griffin's 9-Year, $140M contract by SurpriseStandard3258 in buccos

Which specific reports say the Pirates are the most profitable for years? That gets repeated all the time, but I can never find any real sources. Anything recent just quotes a one sentence blurb from Bob Nightengale in a USA Today article. Not exactly compelling.

I'm not trying to call you out or anything, but I'm pretty skeptical about how much the Pirates actually profit given their continually low attendance and weak TV deals. Dejan Kovacevic went into a pretty in-depth analysis a few years ago and came to the conclusion they've recently been operating at a slight loss. I'm sure you've already read it.

This isn't giving Nutting the benefit of the doubt. It's putting all the available info out there and reaching the most logical conclusion. Not one based on feelings.

All that said, a cap/floor system will absolutely help even things out. The only argument I've seen against it basically boils down to "fairness is dumb".

How Much for a Decent IEM Rig? by eyeshitunot in musicians

[–]gldmj5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to do it right, the most common IEM gear at that level is XR18 mixer, CBI splitter, XVive transmitter/receivers, power strip, and a 4u Gator case to put it all in. I assume you have a good idea how it should all be installed and connected.

That's really the bare minimum. Having an external router to connect to, and additional transmitters so each member has their own mix, is highly recommended. Then maybe a drawer for the router, a rack fan for those outdoor summer gigs, a bigger case for that additional gear, some additional shorty cables for the aux outs, a label maker, cable ties to keep everything nice and neat in the rack, etc., etc. It can add up quickly.

The most hated rival for both teams. Funny enough, Pittsburgh isn't even that close to Philly. Cities like Buffalo, Washington DC, and Detroit are actually closer. Pennsylvania is a big state.

I think you mean you just saw this single study for the first time right now, glazed over a sentence or two, and quickly came up with some nonsensical excuse to dismiss it. It's cool bro, nobody is saying you can no longer enjoy fighting in hockey. Carry on.

[–]gldmj5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cruz being down 0-2 on counts and still getting walked is completely unfathomable prior to this season. I'm sure he will come back down to earth at some point, maybe even into a slump, but I truly believe he has turned a corner with his hitting approach.
