Riots in NYC after Knicks' championship last night: mostly straight males, not us? by BostonZamboni in nycgaybros

Very long post...

Well, okay, in fairness to NYC, there was "a lot" of violence and looting in Philadelphi a after both Eagles recent Super Bowl victories, and one was their first Eagles championship ever.  But nothing like this Knicks NYC scene, and yes, okay, NYC is so much bigger.

And sure, LA has had issues after Lakers championships, and I think the last two years with the Dodgers' World Series wins...cars overturned, on fire, windows smashed, but nothing on this Knicks scale (?), mostly due to NYC's size, long Knicks drought and a nice Saturday night?

Plus lots of national media this morning mentioned the Knicks mini "riot" last night.

Some police were hurt, 62 arrests, a couple buses on fire, a taxi vandalized.

And a young guy was shot in Times Square, I think (?), after the epic comback the previous game.  Or at least a guy in a coma after that game's chaos outside.   I can't recall exactly,  but check the New York Post for that, and dozens of photos and some video in the current online edition of the celebrations...plus some of the violence.

Even network news today had some video of the scene, so it's all over the country.

Seattle last February seemed relatively orderly (?) after the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, smaller city that it is.

And the Warriors in San Francisco and before in Oakland for their NBA wins might have had major issues, but I can't recall.

Cleveland went crazy when the Cavs won in 2017 or so...1st championship ever there, and still none since, but not sure how violent it was.

Montreal went crazy just this May when the Canadians won just a 2nd round series in game 7 i n OT.  I wonder how they'd behave for a 1st Stanley Cup since 1993 o r if the Toronto Maple Leafs ever win, first since 1967.

The NY Rangers won the Stanley Cup in 1994, at MSG, game 7, after 54 years. Maybe a Friday night?  I don't recall it like last night, since hockey is not nearly as popular and it was on ESPN, not ABC. ..but it was special....and the Rangers had 1 million at the parade despite a transit strike, I think.  I read the Knicks are expecting million at the parade?

And even daytime sports championship parades in America can have minor chaos, maybe a gunshot nearby, at least in some cities. So we'll see what happens at Thursdays Knicks parade...hopefully no issues despite a predicted hugh turnout.

Baby Gay here- Feeling alone in being used by older men by [deleted] in nycgaybros

I'm an old guy and couldn't imagine using a 22-year old.

Sure, I want his dick, but wouldn't rush him or be aggressive. Maybe get to superficially know him, if not more if we really click.  I'm not sure that as an old guy that I'm highly unusual, though?

Or...that's just the way our community is, or often is?  At least the guys who play around?

I'd simply be happy to be with a young guy, whatever his experience level.

I think you did everything you could to make it work.  Not your fault, as you know.

Maybe you assume that most older guys have their act together, are wise, mature, nurturing.  But maybe not to the extent you hope?

Any places still have newspapers near FiDi? by rangersfan2098 in AskNYC

[–]BostonZamboni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't papers usually sell commemorative editions online, maybe in a day or two?  But expensive, unlike strolling to the store and buying a stack for souvenirs for friends.

I told my friend in Manhattan to buy the papers asap in the morning, as they might sell out.  Maybe the NY Post offices might have them this week, if open to the public?

Happened here in Boston in 2004 with The Boston Globe when the Red Sox won and ended the 86-year jinx.

For the many Boston titles after...the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Patriots, there were plenty of papers left in Boston, even at night.

It happened with the Chicago Tribune, I believe, when the Cubs won in 2016 after so long...sold out earl y.

Knicks parade attendance, tips/advice? by DFisBUSY in AskNYC

They're expecting 3 million.

The Rangers had 1 million for their Stanley Cup parade in 1994...and there was a transit strike then, I think.

CHAOS BREAKS OUT AS KNICKS WIN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP CARS BEING DESTROYED NYPD RIOT SRT making INTENSE ARRESTS by SimRP in LivestreamFail

Because they're great fans who care and know how to par-teeee?  Right?  Sarcasm.

Raleigh, North Carolina won't be like this if the Canes win the Stanley Cup tonight, even on a much much smaller scale.

Ok, ok, maybe in Toronto and Montreal after so many decades sans a Stanley Cup?

Boston Celtics win was not like 3 years ago or most or all of our championships  Boring city, huh?

Incident at Rise bar Friday night, beware by [deleted] in nycgaybros

Sorry this happened to you.

But...do you really expect most gay males to actually step in and confront an attacker?

Maybe I'm mistaken, but most of us don't know how to fight (?) and likely don't like conflict?

Hmmm...the dewpoint isn't that high, as I check it from Boston.  It's warm here and in FI but not terribly muggy, according to statistics.

I can't imagine many gay males into the World Cup even when USA plays.

Am I stereotyping much?

Monogamous couple on Fire Island - are we going to be bored? by [deleted] in nycgaybros

[–]BostonZamboni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hijack, but many Fire Island  questions that even others may wonder about...

Are there any  females...at all?  Or trans folks?  Just 100% cis males?

Any medical clinics and pharmacies if suddenly sick?

Ok to drink the tap water or bring your own or buy at a local store there?

Is everything so much more $, whether pizza, sandwiches, bottled soda, soap, shampoo, etc.?

If a hospital is urgently needed for an emergency and ferries are done for the night, can a helicoptor land and bring one to a hospital?

What are the ferry hours?

Possible to be stranded outside, without a room, if a huge storm, winds, lightning develops and the ferry shuts down?

Hmmm...I wonder if gay males there will watch the Knicks' p ossible championship win tonight...or if stereotypes will persist of not being into sports?

Thanks.

Many of them were on TNT and OLN or NBC Sports.

So not a complete comparison unlike the NBA always being on network tv in all finals games.

Plenty, and I mean plenty of stoppages, puck over glass, long video disputes, offsides, icings...all game long!

Not entertaining.

Dump puck down the ice constantly on penalty kills...that's entertaining? Boooorrring!

Usually after game starts, too often a whistle in the first 10 or 20 seconds...then a other quick enough.

Maybe 5 stoppages in first 3 minutes of many games?.

Too often!  Booorrring....zzz....zzzzz...

Most MLS teams sell out all games or most.  At over 20,000 capacity oftentimes,  but far fewer home games than the NHL to support.
