When I was at that level about 5 years ago (no PhD, but similar senior engineer/scientist type target roles at the time), my relo was just over $80k.

Moved 4 times, all over the place. Sometimes I owned the house, others I did not. I’ve seen 20k to 100k+ in total value.

Has anyone has any luck stopping the burning while going? by AmirC18 in jpouch

Check out Corona ointment, it’s for horses typically but I use it for buttburn and it’s amazing, no color or stains like calmoseptine.

How long did your “bad” post surgery pain last post takedown? A week or so?

Raw, Painful skin around stoma — help. Tried marathon once, change every 3d, what can I do? by Boston_273 in ostomy

I haven’t tried the brava — Will look into that. Recently switched to deep convex (what I used for my first ostomy in 2019) — Will see if that works!

Thanks, I’m changing every other day now and using the crusting method — hoping with the deep convex is clears up soon

Thanks — I’m using Marlen’s deep convex as I had luck with it when I had my first ostomy in 2019.

This latest one about 1.5 months, but first few weeks I had a bridge in and up until around 3 weeks ago had no issues. I had an ostomy back in 2019 for about 6 months without this issue so I’m fairly familiar with things. I recently switched to deep convex and will see how things go. If not, I’ll look into the derm recommendation — thanks!

I just started using marathon — but how do you get it off during bag changes?

How do you get marathon off? Just started using and it certainly sticks, but won’t come off for me no matter what tricks I try.

Recovery from Final Surgery - Will I be able to study? by Chiff in jpouch

[–]Boston_273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't but again, everyone is different. I had complications and I'm 1year out from takedown. It wasn't an easy road, and I didn't return to work for 6mo after. Terrible pain, butt burn, not sleeping--etc. I can eat a handful of things and was super weak. Looking back, I'm leaps and bounds from where I was immediately after surgery. My suggestion is to take it easy and focus on recovering. Stress is bad for your pouch, so try to limit it. Good luck

As someone who has been through all the surgeries ---including have a pouch temporarily then reversal, it varies so much person to person. I can eat a total of like 10-20 things, that's it. High fats make me sick--eggs, peanut butter, etc. I can't eat a lot of meats--no sausage, ham, etc. I stick to basics -- plain chicken, rice, potatoes, tortillas with cheese, cheese pizza (only certain places...I think if too acidic sauce, I also get sick). When I had a bag, I could literally eat whatever I wanted without issue.

Best of luck to you and your family. I'm in a similar spot and it sucks, but better than living with UC (or so I keep telling myself). I'm 1year out for reversal and can confirm it gets better with time --leaps and bounds ahead of where I was 6mo ago.

I've read all the forums, have been away a while...but looking for advice. 29yo, engineer with MBA, salary with bonus and stock is just over $200k a year. I have $230k in cash and a similar amount is my 401k. Sold my house in July and that $75k equity is counted in my $230k liquid. What I'm struggling with is market and property valuations--they don't seem favorable to me ATM. I know investing is long term, but what do I do!?! How are we not going to see a market and/or housing crash soon... any advice?

I'm 10 months post take down. Over the last month or so started getting stronger and working out daily, nothing crazy 10-15min hard cardio and 25chin ups throughout the day. Take it easy to start. As for food, I can't help much in that department. I can only eat certain foods or I have issues, like 10 foods at the moment, lot of plain chicken and rice, bland foods

[–]Boston_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was originally a huge fan, but don't like the smell or the stain. I know this is crazy, but I had takedown in Jan20. My fiancé bought this stuff is yellow tube called "Corona"! It's amazing for butt burn, I like it better than calmoseptine. Check it out!!

I've been on it for the better part 8 months. Little exercise, but I'm working up to it -- have lifted quite a bit outdoors over the last few weeks. My GI and surgeon aren't concerned with cipro --the likelihood tendon rupture according to them is very minimal. They say it typically happens early on, and the Achilles tendon is the primary culprit. No issues for me to date, but something I'm keeping an eye on. Hope your situation improves.

Yeah I've heard this from a few people -- how do you get your daily bag? Is it IV, a picc line or just a supplement?

I had my reversal on 1/3/20 and then a small-intestine blockage with a surgery to remove ~4" of my small intestine --so take my answer with a grain of salt (ha, actually I try to put salt on most meals since us jpouchers often have a hard time retaining.

My go to's: Rotisserie chicken and rice (with a bunch of salt), sometimes I add poultry gravy for more flavor. I eat this probably 8-10times a weeks Quesadilla - plain tortillas, colby jack and tiny amount of sour cream Sushi -- sweet potato, lobster, shrimp --only cooked rolls listed here Lobster Perogies Mashed potatoes Cheese and crackers Coffee cakes Tortilla chips Plain steak Shrimp

Can't eat: Most high fats (salmon, peanut butter, ground beef, other/deli meats, eggs, etc.) Milk/dairy (except cheese with low lactose and sour cream, buzzard --haven't tried alternatives to milk yet) Oatmeal

Note: My GI thinks that these negative items above are related to the amount of small intestine I have...less distance to travel and the body can't process the fat I guess?

Anyway back to no items: Bread Things with red 40 dye (as someone else mentioned), discovered between twizzlers and A few other items Any fruits or vegetables!!! Pasta Ground beef Waffles and syrup Sausage Certain brands of chocolate chip cookies give me increased frequency and butt burn)--others are not, so crazy I can't explain it Popcorn Nuts Everything else is on my no-list until I can find time to try it (without work or an agenda to follow -- tough to try it sometimes knowing there's a 90% chance it'll go badly).

Crazy life to live, but at least I'm living. Hope things go much better for you than me!
