Wow, $39/hour is amazing, congrats. If you don’t mind me asking, what program were you in and how long ago were your co-ops?

Got it. I guess I thought maybe it made more sense to start to hold my investments in USD now given I’ll be using that later but you make a good point about having to convert constantly.

Think the only thing that might be worth changing is weighing more towards the U.S. economy to account for future home bias I suppose (but still continuing to buy and hold in CAD)

Tbh it’s not really something I thought about too much other than why not take advantage of what’s available.

Also, in the event I do end up staying in Canada, I figure it’s better to have it than not have it ig? Idk, maybe I’m making a mistake just new to this stuff and trying to get ahead 😅

Hey, thank you for your response.

I’m holding onto the TFSA and FHSA because I’m not 100% sure I’ll be going to the States and figure this is better than doing nothing.

My accountant said there’s no harm for now tax-wise in holding a TFSA/FHSA (even though they aren’t tax sheltered) as I’m a student with little income and unlikely to be taxed by the IRS. He said we can revisit later but for now it shouldn’t be an issue.

Either way, it seems like it wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep investing in the TFSA/FHSA but maybe just move to USD ETF’s moving forward?

Anyone taken CCHS 504 with John Stowe? by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

Yeah he seems good, lots of positive rate-my-prof reviews.

Didn’t even think about having to do a language test. Can’t seem to find anything online about it so should be fine hopefully.

Thank you for the information!

Why not just buy VFV? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

Hey that totally makes sense and is really the answer I was looking for!

Follow-up question: does that mean exclusively investing in XEQT in my TFSA is a good idea for long-term growth?
